The Government of Colombia opposes bullfighting and calls for law to eliminate them
The Colombian Ministry of the Interior believes that bullfights are "disappearing" in the country, "due to judicial decisions, and a change in the culture of citizens."
The Colombian government has rejected the bullfights in the country and called the House of Representatives to continue debating a bill that would eliminate the so-called fiesta brava.
This is stated by the Ministry of the Interior in a statement, which states that "everything indicates that the brave party is being extinguished by judicial decisions and a change in the citizen's culture".
The pronouncement is known hours before the bullring of La Santamaría de Bogotá opens its doors for a bullfight with which the season begins which includes the presentation of swords such as the Spaniards Enrique Ponce and Julián López "El Juli", Sebastián Castella, Cayetano and the Colombian Luis Bolívar.
The Ministry of the Interior recalls that the Constitutional Court has ruled for Congress to legislate on this matter for which it has until May 10, 2019.
That's like eliminating the trademark of given race... Culture should be preserved not eliminated
