Greetings!
Being quite new to Steemit, I've noticed the colorchallenge posts floating about and I think they are just lovely. Plus, gives me something to point and shoot at. ;-)
Once realizing it was a red day I set out on a dog walking adventure in hopes to find the last inklings of red in this high valley mountain desert I call home.
At about 8,000 feet above sea level, on the inside upper edge of the largest high valley in the world, my views can be astronomical. However, today, I stay low and welcome you to the wildflowers.
I do apologize for the poor lighting. We are just finishing up our 'monsoon' season. We get about 14 inches of rain or so a year (National average is 39), and most of it comes during the few weeks of monsoon. Every afternoon the skies open for ... a few minutes and close right back up. The temperature and pressure is nice just before this happens, making it the best time to walk the four-leggeds.
Where was I?
Ah yes. Red.
This first photo is um... edited. I'll post the original below.
Meet a few Fairy Trumpets.

Crazy fact bonus: It's illegal in Colorado to pick the wildflowers. They are protected. #thingstoknow
Hope you enjoyed the read and the flowers.
If you follow you will be rewarded with more beauty of my land. Plus, other stuff-n-things.
Sneak peak. Home last winter:
