ColorChallenge - Monday Red - Bright Red Poppy - Macro Photography

in colorchallenge •  8 years ago

It's a bit late in the day (but it's still Monday!) and our red poppies just burst into bloom today... so I wanted to enter this close-up of one of the opened flowers in @kalemandra's photography #colorchallenge

This is, of course an unusual view-- a super close-up, showing the dark veins in the petals, taking from the outside of the flower. With the sun lighting it up from within, the red was strikingly bright.

Camera used: Fuji Finepix HS20 EXR, macro setting; 100mm equivalent; shot in natural daylight on a sunny evening.

This is really beautiful. I've never seen the up close details of a poppy before! Thank you for sharing

Thank you @fayehalliday! They were just so smooth and interesting looking... and I remembered artist Georgia O'Keefe's HUGE flower paintings... so I decided to get super "up-close and personal" with them.

Remember being introduced to the painting of Georgia O'Keefe when I was studying art. Instant resonance with her work, as I was painting enlargements of 'Mother of Pearl' shells at that time.

LOVE your close up of the red poppy now @denmarkguy. The beauty of macro is when you can no longer recognize the source and the image speaks for itself, as what it IS ~ Colour, shape and form.

Beautifully captured 'wave of vibrant energy' ~ Didn't realize till now that I wasn't following you. Am now and resteeming this beauty. 🐋🍁🐋

Thanks for the follow, and for your kind words!

I enjoy macro precisely for the reason that it allows me to get up close and see items in ways I cannot with the naked eye... not only is it beautiful, it also teaches and informs of the unseen world.

Pleasure @denmarkguy. Yes we have so much to learn from the 'little things' all around us. Especially those in the natural world. 🐋🍁🐋

Wow, this is beautiful!

Thank you! I had a couple of shots that turned out more like pieces of art than photographs... this was the best one.

This is really something must have been nice to take enjoy your photography.

I really enjoy taking a really close look at the tings around us... what do they LOOK like when we get down to a level of detail I cannot see with my eyes?

That's a lovely picture and such bright red colors :D

Thank you!

Good idea:)

Thank you!

Great macro shot!

Thank you!
