ColorChallenge - Tuesday Orange - Amazing Backlit Silhouette at Sunset - Photography

in colorchallenge •  7 years ago

It's Tuesday, so that means "Tuesday Orange" in @kalemandra's daily #colorchallenge... chose to enter a photo of this amazingly intense orange sunset...

However, this is not your normal "sunset picture;" instead I used the deep orange purely as a backdrop against which this stark silhouette of a small branch and leaves stands... unretouched with vibrant magenta lensflares.

100% fan of sunset photography :-) Most people in real life don't even bother to notice the dynamically changing color show nature puts on almost every night. I feel only people with artistic minds fully appreciate it.

I think sunsets are "so everyday" in most people's minds that they just sort of get overlooked. For me, this is one of nature's daily shows of magnificence. Our house faces west and overlooks a bay and then mountains in the distance, so we get treated to a beautiful show on a regular basis... and it's always worth taking a few moments out of my day to just look and have a moment of gratitude for being alive!

True words my friend.

My view is not as great. I have to battle human obstacles - powerlines, power poles, street lights, etc. But I climb on top of my vehicle, to see over them to get the shot if needed.

That's a pretty epic shot!! :)
I like how you combined a sunset shot with a close up.

Thank you! It turned out surprisingly well... and it was somewhat unexpected, too.

Wonderful orange lights! Up and resteemed!

Thank you @kalemandra! You know, I never thought I would become a participant in "challenges" and "competitions" here on Steemit... but this is really quite fun and creative... so thank you for inspiring it!

That is a cleverly composed pic. Gives me insipiration for the next time I see a funky sunset

Thank you @meesterboom! As I mentioned in a different comment... it really started as an accident; I was trying to catch the reflection of the rippling water (we overlook the sea) nearby and the camera autofocus chose to switch to focusing on the foreground. I thought "Well, that looks interesting!" so I shot a few like that... and this was the best one.

Great tuesdayorange post! I love the intensity of the color and the silhouette of that tree in front.
Great job, my friend!

Thank you! It's was actually an "accidental" photo... I was trying to catch the reflections on the nearby water and got a focus on the foreground, rather than the background, and it looked interesting, so I shot a few. This was the best one.

That happens from time to time, that we find "accidentally" new things...
Look at my funny nearby-accident: Yesterday I had already written in my comment (behind the text you can see now). "Is it still Tuesday in Denmark, we have already Wednesday in Luxembourg" (with a smiley of course). It was 9 in the morning. Then I suddenly thought, I should maybe better have a look and then saw that the "denmarkguy" does not live in Denmark at all and that it was just past midnight in Port Townsend, WA and quickly erased that sentence.
Have a great evening.... ehem sorry.... afternoon, my friend! 😉

Life is funny, sometimes... odd coincidences. Yes, I am 100% Danish, but the US has been home since 1981.

Wonderful orange hue..it looks almost like a painting :)

Thank you! It came out really well on the colors... no "color correction" needed-- it actually was just that orange for about a minute; then the sun went below the horizon.

hehe you caught it at just the right split second then :)

beautiful photography...following you.

Thank you-- appreciate it!
