Color Challenge - Wednesday Yellow - Dead Bumblebee on SunflowersteemCreated with Sketch.

in colorchallenge •  7 years ago

I was rather astonished to find this Bumblebee dead, hung upside down from the yellow threads, in the middle of the Sunflower. It is pretty rare for me to find this sort of scene. Normally the Bumblebees die and end up on the ground or in things like buckets, cups, tires, etc. I have looked through my books and can't seem to find anything listed as a predator of the Bumblebee that would leave it like this. Especially without a larger web structure around it or nearby.

I wonder if bees a have saying like humans, "At least it died doing what it loved...."? At least it died ON a flower.... Not sure if that is consolation or not.

A truly rare photo. I have never encountered a dead bee hanging anywhere...

It's been over 10 years since I have seen a dead bee of any kind hanging in a web. That was when I lived in California and we had Black Widows EVERYWHERE, so they would get bees in their super strong web.

Spiderman, Spiderman. Does what a spider can...LOL

Nice, following you for more...
