These beauties were found unintentionally, during our daily walk, just a few meters away from our usual walking trail.

mmmmmm....yummmm !

The oldest mushroom found in amber is from 90 million years agoβ€”a Cordyceps. Scientists recently discovered a fossil first uncovered in 1859 and named Prototaxites, dating back more than 420 million years, a time when the tallest plants were around 2 feet tall. Prototaxites was 3 feet tall laying down, but if standing was nearly 30 feet high. In either case it would be the tallest organism on land...and it was a giant fungus!

I just came back from the trip to mountains. I was picking up there mashrooms too)) It's a very pleasant feeling when you find a good mushroom! Real gambling! Isn't it?

Nice mushroom...Your photo appears to be of a fungus nicknamed the "Jack'O'Lantern" mushroom, more formally known as Omphalotus olearius. Edible? No. Poisonous? Yes. It might not kill you, but a recurring theme in descriptions of its effects is that if it doesn't kill you, you'll probably wish it did! Here's a writeup from the Illinois Natural History Survey:

I think you point us to a totally different mushroom. Those on my photo we eat all the time, every year, every day (when ever we manage to find them).
and believe me

These are deliciuos !

This unique and rare I have encountered, Amazing

Β  Β· Β 7 years agoΒ

They did indeed use the AM in religious rituals and AM does have deliriant and hallucinatory effects and more. This would mean not only is it linked to religion and religious social structures in the ceremony, but there is a significant link that it produced these experiences by way of muscimol induced hallucinations. Since its consumption began fifty thousand years ago, it would put its use on the very beginning of religion itself. The idea that this is somehow a fallacy is far from the truth as not only is there a religious connection but the connection began at the same time.

This seems to be the season for the most amazing looking mushrooms, there are loads being shown here on Steemit. Great photos, excellent quality @onealfa.

Wow. Beautiful pictures of the mushrooms. I am originally from Poland and I lived there for 14 years, and every year my family and I would go mushroom picking, and I loved it. These pictures just brought good memories, thank you sharing. Enjoy your mushrooms @onealfa
