The Art of Recycling

Isn't the saying "one man's junk is another man's treasure"? It is certainly the case for this artist, Artur Bordalo who creates some of the coolest street art I've seen.

This piece was at a street corner in Porto (Portugal), right next to all the main Port houses. This guy takes tractor tires, corrugated sheet metal, and other bits of urban scrap and trash to make his art and it looks dope!

Later during the trip we went to Lisbon and saw another one of his pieces. The raccoon!

I wish more people could take to the streets and unleash their creativity on our rubble... 'cause we got a lot of it! 😵

Heya, @schulbz

To realize this quotation, recently I had a sensorial experience.
One afternoon while I made a walk down the path from the bell tower off Colaba Causeway to Sassoon Dock in South Mumbai, India.
I was stunned to see the unimpeachable Art exhibited there.

Your post brought me those memories once again.

postmodern world is like a dump ;)

We still have time to turn it around and create art! 😇

A bit dark but I love the idea of recycling junk.

Why is Recycling that important ?

Recycling is one of the best ways for you to have a positive impact on the world in which we live. Recycling is important to both the natural environment and us. We must act fast as the amount of waste we create is increasing all the time.

The amount of rubbish we create is constantly increasing because:

Increasing wealth means that people are buying more products and ultimately creating more waste.
Increasing population means that there are more people on the planet to create waste.
New packaging and technological products are being developed, much of these products contain materials that are not biodegradable.
New lifestyle changes, such as eating fast food, means that we create additional waste that isn’t biodegradable

Nice comment @originalworks

Whoa that's such great use of recyclables!

Wow realy creative and the result is amazing!

Great job, good post

Wow! This is some beautiful artwork, @schulbz

Great pic, @schulbz! I haven't seen this yet! Going to add it to our travel destinations! I particularly think its super cool when artists create from recycled material, and when you look at it from different angles, you see completely different portrayals! Cheers!

That was actually one of my favorite parts. The perspective on these were fascinating. So many layers went into crating it. From a slightly different angle.

This is great @schulbz Just out of interest is the Os Gemeos mural still up in Lisbon? I remember being blown away by it a few years ago. Nice post.

@daysoflove what a shame, I didn't see it. I'll have to look it up. Lisbon was one of my favorite cities in the world!

Art is something wonderful and really great
My view of such drawings and shapes made me very happy to see all this art

This is amazing. And about saying "one man's junk is another man's treasure" .....it reminded me of very interesting movie Waste Land

One of my favorite documentaries. Lucy Walker is a boss for directing it.

How is he doing this? )
