Why Isn't Comedy Funny Anymore?

So today I have a pressing question...

Why isn't comedy funny anymore?

I feel like this is a multi-layered problem with a multi-layered answer, but in general I think it boils down to a few basic things:

1.) The strangulation of anything funny by PC Culture and the fear born into the hearts of comedians if they step too far out of line.

2.) Making all comedy political. Sure, some comedians used to bring politics into their bits, but by discussing politics generically, vaguely. Comedians might have made a vague joke about politicians, something that everyone could understand and agree with. Now, we get the entire line up of what happened during the day in "comedy" format.

"Supreme Court Justice resigns today and we are all totally screwed, and by we I mean all liberals or anyone who thinks someone seriously won't step up into the swing vote position. We are all doomed."

Ba-Dum-Tiss.

That's what all the late night talk shows sound like.

No thank you very much. If I wanted a funnier way to get the news, I would just watch the MSM, it's a joke.

Now, if you are somewhat conservative or libertarian, you might have found my last joke "funnier" than someone who is on the left or actually likes the MSM. This is another layer to comedy not being funny.

If someone agrees with something another person has to say, and it's in joke format, they will laugh, even if it's not funny.

"That cryptocurrency, it be dropping, and we're all fucked. Amirite? Eh? Eh?"

See, you may or may not agree with that statement, but you can relate to it as fellow people involved in cryptocurrency. If I were one stage doing a bit and I told a joke like that about crypto, you may be compelled to laugh, knowing that you are one of the few who support crypto, maybe out of the whole audience. We like to laugh with what we can identify with, even if it's not funny.

This is what's happening to comedy.

That's easy. Political correctness and sjw types have been killing comedy since the late 90's.

Very true mam. Very few people out there I find funny these days as they all seem to be brainwashed by the left into using comedy as propaganda and these people are tossing their reputation right out the window.

The brain dead take a piss on all that is good political agenda is choking the life out of fun. I avoid all these comedians and the channels that support them all together. Take a crack at asses, take a poke at dicks or swing a cat at pussies, just don't be dull, comedy is my reprieve from the shit caused by stupid people, I don't need it repeated by some moron thinking it's funny.

I think it really hit me when Kathy Griffin went insane and did that bloody head spiel.

Like, it's something that someone on bath salts would have done.

Then she likened herself to gag/prop artists like Carrot Top and Gallagher.
