4th of July Parade Fiasco

Today was the 4th of July parade in a small town i work in. It was MY brilliant idea to be in he parade to advertise and hand out coupons for my salon. Never been in a parade before... ha! I've been to one though. Thought it'd be a simple task. Welp, I was sorely mistaken! I am new to this area but i am also from a small town.
Me and two other stylists and our receptionist showed up together with a wagon of maybe 1,000 coupon baggies with cute little products in them and some suckers. We started out very strong, not gonna lie. We could've done this shit for a living, we looked that pro.

I started noticing it getting hotter by the second, then started noticing we were the only ones not on a trailer, float or in a car. We were 4 people with a frickin wagon!!! I started to feel embarrassed but pushed that thought aside and walked on. It started getting hotter and hotter and our coupons were starting to dwindle into nothing. I'm thinking to myself, "what the hell are we gonna do when we don't have any left!?"
Mind you, we were not on the sidelines of the parade. We were in the parade!!! In between the high school Cheer team and a local call center business. Could we just fade into the crowd slowly and walk away?! What do we do? We were only half way through the parade and had nothing left to throw to the crowds, which might i add, was HUGE!

Here we are panting like dogs in the heat, sun burnt to hell and walking in a damn parade with nothing but an empty wagon....holy shit! I didn't know which i would die from, the 100 degree weather or embarrassment.
I looked to my coworker and said "lets just go dude!" She said it was against the rules to leave the parade before its over. Good God, REALLY?! Maybe because it'd be awfully hard to leave in the middle of a parade with a damn float. We have a wagon....
I wasn't havin it dude! I decided to leave and sit under a tree til the parade ended but she wouldn't give. She went the rest of the way with her empty wagon. HaHa
