I was doing one of my favorite things, which is going throug my comic book scans. This thing always gets me: notice how this issue from August 1966 cost 12 cents - and that's a price that actually made a profit per sold copy.

Imagine trying to make a profit today by selling stuff for 12 cents. You'd have to sell rocks, or something. 1966 wasn't even that long ago, and the dollar has lost so much of its value.

Today, Spider-Man comics in America are sold for around $5-$6, I think. Pretty amazing, pardon the pun.

Wow, very cool scan to see. I actually have a reprint of this issue for sale here https://duosear.ch/@crypto_collectibles/listing/1e9ac0f845d033741c8c04b1c7330b4bfbfab526 Which means that the issue sold for 12 cents, and had enough readership for this particular story where Marvel took the story they have already printed and reprinted it and sold it for 65 cents later. From that, who knows how many Spider-Man graphic novels or trade paperbacks they also include this same story in. On top of this one single old story re-printed, as you point out they still do have brand new Spider-Man books and series currently running that are easily $4 at least per book. I don't even know what my point is, other than Mickey Mouse is rich and it was a really smart move to buy Marvel.

I love hearing stuff like this. This is a cool thing about Steemit: connecting with random people with similar interests and learning, new random stuff like this.
