You must have clicked this link like the overexcited fool you are thinking that I’m going to talk about one of the hottest British actors out there (Idris Elba is a dreamboat, guys. Don’t ever let anyone tell you otherwise). To that, I’m sorry for all the deception. Still, thanks for the click! Or, and this is as likely, you might have started to read this article thinking that it’s going to be about DC Comics property Lex Luthor, in which case the joke’s on you, nerd. I don’t need to waste time talking about that bald character and how “he’s such a perfect foil to Superman. Blahblahblah…” DC can shove that property right in your nerd face without my help. What I am here to talk about, though, is one title that has – if you ask me – become quite the sensation when it came out and has gone on to become a cult classic in the world of comic books, which is the Luther Strode series by Justin Jordan and Tradd Moore.

Now, I’m pretty sure you funny book gremlins have heard about this series before, but I very rarely see – that is, I don’t think I’ve even seen it even once – discussions about this little wonderful title even during its peak years, which was in 2012 (I might be a bit off with the year here, since it’s been so long since I’ve last read it) when the first volume entitled “The Strange Talent of Luther Strode” was being published. This actually makes me think that despite a lot of people buying the comic book, considering it sold well enough to not just spawn two subsequent volumes but also kick off the careers of Jordan and Moore in mainstream comics, I think there are far fewer who actually read them, much less follow the series until its final volume. I’m pretty sure somewhere out there a poor copy of Luther Strode is in a box just waiting to be read, which I am betting won’t happen, considering it’s owned by some troll out there who’s holding on to its box of funny books under a bridge as hard as it does with its troll wiener whenever it sees Chris Evans flex his biceps in a Capt. America suit.

So, here’s the gist of what the Luther Strode series is about. It starts off with some nerd much like yourself (because Jordan and Moore, if anything, know how to set their baits) who subscribes to one of those old ads found in comic books that turn you from a weeping piece of bully snacks into a total veiny, steroidal hulkoid. I’m paraphrasing here, of course. As the story progresses, though, readers are going to find out that there is something behind the bodybuilding regimen the titular Luther Strode subscribed to that is deadly and ancient.

That’s all I’m going to say about that, though. If you want to find out what happens in the book, then go buy a trade or something. Lay off those capes and tights for a minute, dope.
