No Comment Love. Comments are still getting the shitty end of the steem stick. (+ old content upvoting)(100% steem power)steemCreated with Sketch.

Why not listen while you read? So two weeks ago I wrote an article on the power of a comment and how it relates to steem. Some of the feedback in the comments section implied that this was old information. I fully agree that most if not all of the information has been posted in the past, but, ... It is ignored information.

If you are one of many new users I implore you to read the previous article here. If you are a seasoned steemit user and you do not pay attention to the comments section  should probably give it a read as well.

There are still thousands of comments being passed over on steemit every day. I personally do not have the steem power to reward comments of value. I can add to the value but my vote alone does nothing. It will take more then a few people to curate the comments section. Everyone needs to do their part and make sure you curate the comments on your own articles for starters.

Then there is another problem I have seen, some people comment on an old article agreeing with or thanking the person who took the time to write it but not bothering to upvote it because it has already paid out once. Authors can get paid again if PEOPLE CONTINUE TO UPVOTE!! Please dont ignore the upvote button simply because they have been paid once a second payout is some sweet stuff.

I hate the idea of so much complaining packed into one tiny post but if just one more steemian starts giving some comment love I'll consider it a win. Be #steemwise.

This post is my first test of the 100% steem power option. I have seen posts saying there is an advantage to using it and this is a test of that hypothesis

Authors get paid when people like you upvote their post.

I too would like to see more value placed on comments, but for an entirely different reason. I honestly could care less about the whole monetization aspect. (I recently wrote a cranky diatribe on the subject based on my newcomer's observations.) No, the reason I would like to see more weight given to comments is for the purpose of encouraging dialogue among users. Right now everyone is to busy shouting from their own soapbox to engage one another in any real discussion. What's the point of all this if we do not engage one another?

Of course that's the idea as well everything isn't about the $. The $ just help. The $ encourage more quality content and it hurts to see a bunch of quality content ignored either because its over a day old or in the comments section.

love your voice @sdred955 but Google has INDEXED 20 BILLION internet pages to date. I love Steemit but any new website today is simply not going to be found, if Steemit hit the market without gold and novelty it would have about 4 users by now ! ! !
Oh; Welcome to Steemit, little Rep 25 . . .

I myself am old, I am on the " Dark Side " of 50; a guy who has traveled a tiny bit but had a huge life experiences thinking life.

I can guess wrongly at the radius of the Earth, tell you what the event horizon of a singularity is and locate Madagascar on the map. Simply I contain a wealth of general knowledge to add and improve other peoples posts.

I know little of the economy nor finance, nothing of culture nor art nor entertainment. But when it comes to macro science, technology, history or fitness health I am like a poor cousin to Albert Einstein or any other genius you would care to mention.

However I am a poor writer, I am enjoying my Authoring and stuff on Steemit, but I am not good and make little money. This tiny amount of money I make is 99% more than I ever made commenting.

Thus if Steemit does not want me to actually try and improve other peoples work then I must blog. Now my posts are not great but they are getting read more than comments. I am not on Steemit to make money, but while not caring about the gold, i see no point in writing comments.

Generally writing comments is the internet equivalent of talking to ones self. There is no way to even know if you have even been read. So generally I did come to Steemit to read and learn uncensored opinions and I could contribute to the overall output quality of other people blog posts etc.

But now I find myself off Steemit as I craft my new articles to try and become a better writer . . . I love Steemit, just not sure what all this is ultimately aiming for; and more importantly what I should be trying to aim to achieve in helping Steemit ! ! !

If their is a Mission Statement, or Platform Goals and Strategic Aims for Steemit, I myself must have overlooked them . . .

Maybe they were in that huge " White Paper " that I never 'wasted' my precious time reading...

Well this has to be about the best reply I've gotten to a post to date. I thank you for actually taking the time and adding your knowledge to my post. I wish I had more steem power to reward you :)

Honestly, someone that says "this is old information" does not realize 90% of everything is old information.

As the Nas quote goes: "No idea is original, there's nothing new under the sun, it's never what you do, but how it's done"
