اللجنة الأولمبية الدولية ترفع الإيقاف عن الكويت مؤقتا

رفعت اللجنة الأولمبية الدولية أمس الخميس الإيقاف عن الكويت مؤقتا قبل يومين على انطلاق دورة الألعاب الآسيوية ما يسمح لرياضييها بالمشاركة في الحدث تحت راية العلم الكويتي.

وعبرت الكويت عن ترحيبها بقرار رفع الإيقاف لحين استكمال "خارطة الطريق" المتفق عليها مع اللجنة الأولمبية الدولية.

وتعرضت الكويت للإيقاف منذ أكتوبر 2015 بسبب التدخل الحكومي في عمل اللجنة الأولمبية المحلية بعد صدور قانون للرياضة.

ونتيجة لذلك اضطر الرياضيون الكويتيون للمنافسة تحت العلم الأولمبي في أولمبياد ريو دي جانيرو 2016 كما لم تحصل اللجنة الأولمبية المحلية على تمويل من اللجنة الأولمبية الدولية.

              International Olympic Committee temporarily suspends Kuwait

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) on Thursday lifted its suspension from Kuwait two days before the Asian Games, allowing its athletes to participate in the event under the flag of Kuwait.

Kuwait has welcomed the decision to lift the suspension until the completion of the "road map" agreed with the International Olympic Committee.

Kuwait has been suspended since October 2015 because of government interference in the work of the local Olympic Committee after the issuance of a law on sports.

As a result, Kuwaiti athletes were forced to compete under the Olympic flag at the Rio de Janeiro Olympics 2016 and the local Olympic Committee did not receive funding from the International Olympic Committee.
