Communication

In our world, usually, we communicate, not just verbally, but also, on so many levels.
Our gestures, facial expressions, hand movements, and even the noises and groans we make.

Here, in the Steemiverse, we are somewhat limited.
Until someone gets to truly know another, there are only words, online.
There's no non-verbal communication, except for some emojis here and there.

Yet, daily, looking out on my deck,
I see many more species seem to communicate effectively without words.
This momma white-breasted nuthatch had a half dozen of her young with her.
Each little one patiently waited, lined up on the branch I had tied to the deck.
Mom would flit to the feeder, grab a seed, come back and feed one.
Each kid would eat a seed, then fly to the back of the line.

No words. AND I listened, so, no bird peeps, or squeeks either.

We, here online need to do a better job, reading and listening to each other.
Less screeming, and more uplifting.
Good communication will help us all... grow.

AND this is doubly important in the Steemverse
with Steem so low.

Communication Means We all Do Better

Beautiful picture! I'm so completely amazed that there were no verbal communications by the birds! But at the same time not. In my experience with young children...they listen so much better with less words, and if you whisper, it's even better! I think you're right that we could all do a better job. Lovely post!

thanks so very much!

Beautiful picture and agreed. This is internet but behind the screens we are real people. It is easy for many to abstract it and judge others. I am a nature lover, and I consider myself a good observer, I see signs in animals behaviour that tops our empathy many times

I do too. Empathy means a lot. People lacking empathy are my biggest dread.

This post makes me think about how I always feel I 'lack' in communication when on a telephone. I can't see the face, the gestures... and feel I'm missing out on so much.

Still, I do feel less of that on Discord/Steemit. Maybe expectations are different too! But communication, yes, is a matter of attention at least.

(Lovely moments with the birds!)

thanks
Yeah, theyre cool, my visitors on the deck!

Good point about expectations.

Indeed, there is always some non-verbal communication that is lost online. I'm picturing the birds in like a facility or something, where they line up for food. They don't need to really communicate to go back in line; they know when they've had their share because they are accustomed to the routine. Nature is fascinating.

yes, but these were barely fledged. Just left the nest. Some still had the downy nest feathers.
Yet, they learned to understand. Read signals. Communicate.

That's even more interesting. It could be that it's like a passed-on memory, like, through evolution. Not everything is learnt, some things are innate, and it would be a beautiful thing for this to be the way they are from their first days.

I really love this... they're so cute that they line up- ready to eat from momma. I think it's more amazing that they actually wait their turn, and go to the back of the line so that others can have a turn!

You know @bluefinstudios, we seem to live in a world full of big egos.. and usually you're not having a conversation with someone who's listening, you're having a conversation with someone who's chomping at the bit to respond. And so what kind of communication is that right? And yes please!!! Less screaming!!! It's not difficult to be nice and to be uplifting and to be genuine while doing it. I see it everyday here.

Big ego?
ME????
uhm. I do NOT have a big ego....
Oh, wait...
... uhm... you weren't talkng about me...
never mind
