The Value and Importance of Volunteering

Great post, I completely agree with you and I also feel that communities are going to be the key to repairing racial and politically influenced relations and moving forward as a country. Social media has taken us out of our communities and put us on a more national or even global playing field, and pretty obviously it hasn’t really worked out well for us thus far. My father used to tell me there were too many people sucking the government tit and that we needed to get back to spending our volunteer time and charitable funds locally, helping out the people in our communities - that communities were what made us a strong, vital and caring nation. I understand that more and more as time goes on. Our communities currently consist of a bunch of people with their noses in their phones who don’t talk to each other, but instead spend their time arguing with people across the country/world. I wish my dad were here to see all of the current madness, I suspect he wouldn’t change his narrative a bit.
