Multilingual topics: We need some Wikipedia-like tool here!

languages

Hello community

Let me start by saying English is not my native language, so excuse me for any grammatical errors in this post.

I've been following the Steemit project for some while now, and i really love the way this platform could change the future landscape on blogging/articles/whatever you like.

However i'm surprised that there is no Multilingual support for posts. Maybe it would make sense to set a bountie for anyone to translate the main post, sort like Wikipedia has one topic in many languages that can be edited by the community.

Maybe Steemit should add 'subpages' in different languages?

I'm convinced this would contribute to larger adoption and growth of this platform.

What does the community think about this?

I completely agree! A translation feature would be amazing and vital to spreading steemit across the globe. I guess it's because the platform is still young and has a lot of room for improvement still. There were already demands from the spanish speaking community and I the whitepaper - as far as I know - is already translated into dutch and is about to be completely translated into german.

Are you interested in taking a part in the translation process? What languages are you interested in in particular? Cheers

I speak Dutch, French, and German. Without any doubt this community has lot's of non native EN users on board, so this could be a huge boost to the platform itself.

I'm not posting this to make some money out of it, but i'll sure do whatever i can to upvote this topic so the dev team can implent this feature

Oh, amazing! I myself speak dutch, French and German :D Yeah, let's start creating non-english alternatives. It's ok, you don't have to justify for posting completely legitimate questions. I'm in this too to spread the principles I believe in. I'm still new to this, but I would be very much interested in spreading this platform in other languages. I think to engage more with the People that set the website up you can join the "slack". So far I couldn't apply though since there doing some maintenance work.

I love the idea of different languages and a translator setting would be great. I'm sure there is quality content that I am missing just because I can't read the language it is written in.

Agreed on that!

Thumbs up! I believe you are always missing something, when you read in a language other than you mother tongue. Plus, it takes you more time! I strongly support the idea of building a translation platform within steemit. Personally, I would be glad to contribute in my language (greek). We have to push this up...
