I thought I'd share my latest find, the bird app. This is the best thing to happen to summer since Pokemon Go. Bird is an app that allows you to ride electric scooters for 15 Cents a minute. When you reach your destination you hit "end ride" in the app and drop the scooter wherever. It's similar to Uber, Lyft, and Lime. Sad to say it doesn't look like it is available everywhere. To my knowledge San Diego, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Baltimore (represent!), and now Dallas.
The other day I went to from the Santa Monica Pier to the Venice board walk for $5. The only issue I had was finding an available, working Bird. The app will show the location and battery life of each scooter, or "Bird". FYI I did stumble upon defected Birds. Later in the day it becomes difficult to find charged Birds, but they still get you pretty far. If you happen to be in Bird territory I highly suggest renting one, because it's fun to do alone or with friends.
The Santa Monica/ Venice Strip is always my favorite, but Bird-ing, biking, walking, longboard etc. makes it that much more relaxing.
