The former president of Colombia said that if the Maduro regime continues, the situation in Cúcuta could worsen
The economic and political crisis facing Venezuela has generated an impact in the Colombian territory, mainly in Cúcuta, north of Santander, said former President Álvaro Uribe after his visit to the border area on Thursday.
"If the regime continues, the depression of Cúcuta will come a time when it will be the same on the other side and citizens will ask themselves what democracy is for," Uribe said, according to a publication by El Nuevo Herald.
According to data from the Colombian Foreign Ministry, 60% of Venezuelans entering through the Norte de Santander Department on the border with Venezuela do so to continue to other cities, while the remaining 40% remain in Cúcuta.
