Finally guys! I can't wait to show you guys my favourite action + shooting + open-world game of all times; Just Cause 2 which was made 10 years ago but it is evergreen to me. I first played it 6 years ago with my crappy Acer laptop and I was totally blown off by their explosive, shooting mechanics and gameplay similar to Grand Theft Auto. The soundtrack while in the loading screen makes you pump up to play this game.
Without further ado, let's get into the game. A helicopter is seen flying towards the Republic of Panau in South-East Asia with two unknown characters inside it. If I had played Just Cause 2, I would have known the names of those guys. In this game, be prepared to face the Malay language usually on the places name. Let's hear what they say in the helicopter.
Unknown woman: Here we are. Panau Islands. South East Asia's best kept secret.
Unknown guy: It's agency territory right? US-friendly?
Unknown woman: Not anymore. And that's why we're here.
Unknown guy: Someone not dancing to Uncle's Sam tune? [I'm feeling the vibes that this republic will become the next Syria, Libya, and Iraq.]
Unknown woman: The old president was assassinated......By the new President, Pandak Panay, his son. And he won't pick up the phone. [The new president soon will get assassinated like his father. KARMA!!!!]
Unknown guy: He doesn't sound much like a people person.
Unknown woman: Right. He's attempting to eliminate all opposition. Sheldon was trying to figure out his agenda when he disappeared.
Unknown guy: So what? He's gone dark before.
Unknown woman: Not like this. Worst case scenario: he's gone rogue.
Unknown guy: So what's in it for him?
Unknown woman: I don't know, Rico. But if he has turned, you gotta take him out. [Oooooo... Now I know his name is Rico. Let's solve this puzzle piece by piece.]
Rico: That's a bitter pill, Kane. Sheldon taught me everything I know. [Yesssa!!! The woman's name is KANE! and Rico's mentor is Sheldon. It will be hurting man to kill your mentor.]
Kane: Which is why you are here. You know his M.O. [Guys, What is M.O?]
Rico: I can't argue with that.
Kane: We've gathered all available intel onto these memory cards. Marshall here will download them onto your PDA. [Ooops! I said earlier that there were only two-person but apparently there were three.]
Suddenly, something hit the helicopter.
Kane: Dammit! That's incendiary stuff on those cards. They fall into the wrong hands it's gonna be one hell of a firestorm back in Washington.
Kane was thrown out of the helicopter and fortunately, Rico held her hand just in time as there was another thing that hits the helicopter.
Marshall: Wow! The natives are restless!
Rico: Someone doesn't like us. [He is talking while pulling Kane up to the helicopter.]
Kane: Panauan military, I recognize the flak. We sold 'em those guns. [ Oooooo... So what was hitting them was the flak from the military. Interesting.]
Kane: Get back from there!
Marshall was thrown out of the helicopter.
Rico: Oh hell. I was running out of ammo anyway... Don't wait up [Proceed to jump out of the helicopter. A badass guy.]
WHY SO SERIOUS!
Maria Kane: Marshall is dead, but he's still got your PDA. Catch up with him before he crashes into the ground.
One of the many aspects I like about this game is free-falling to the ground. I mean the sounds make it that you are there u see. The graphics are astounding to depict this fact considering there is no lagging and dropping in FPS while performing this feat.
[After getting the PDA from Marshall]
Maria Kane: Damn memory cards are sprinkled like confetti all over the place! Good thing they've tracers. Land outside of that base.
Rico: Hmm.. Big guns for such a small island. [After landing on Panau.]
The Agency mission started in exactly 5 minutes into the video. You are playing as Rico in the third-person mode.
Maria Kane: There are five remaining memory cards. All full of compromising intel. You better haul ass before the locals get their hands on them. Use your grappling hook to get inside the base.
Rico uses the grappling hook to get to places with style and one of the characteristics that Grand Theft Auto didn't have. You can do many things with the grappling hook which I will show you in future videos.
In 5:34 mins, Rico uses his grappling hook to pull the man on top of the building to his death.
The name of this place is called "Kem Gunung Dataran Tinggi". This is the Malay language which means Tall Mountain Camp. I had discovered one of the 368 places in Panau. There are lots of undiscovered places to explore! I did not know why there is a percentage below the name of the place. We will soon find out!
I had my first pistol from a weapon stash nearby and tried to kill the enemies with a headshot!
So, I had collected my first resource items in the game which look like a shining box from afar. Resource items are very crucial because they can be used to upgrade weapons, vehicles, and max health. The percentage went up by 4 percent after collecting my first resource item and I believe that after all the items had been collected in that specific place, it will show 100 percent.
Maria Kane: Incoming hostile chopper. Use the flak cannon!
I had the opportunity to use the flak cannon to destroy the incoming hostile chopper. While waiting for the helicopter to arrive, I destroyed the Radar Dome and other government installations by Pandak Panay. Pardon my mistakes about the percentages. You must also destroy the government properties to achieve it. The objective of this game is to create chaos after chaos!
Maria Kane: Rico. One of the soldiers is making a run for it with the memory card. Stop him! Grapple on to that tramway car and then slingshot with the parachute to skydive down there! [I actually missed the car and do my own thing to get to the other side of the mountain.]
I killed the soldier and took the memory card which he carried and grappled to the chopper with Maria Kane inside.
Maria Kane: Okay hotshot, hang tight. I'm gonna make a pass around that building. Get your guns out and deal with any rooftop hostilities.
I spaced out over here while a rocket was heading towards me while grappling onto the helicopter. Perhaps it was too far for me to recognize the danger. Do you know what happens? I nearly died after being hit by that and was shocked I haven't died yet.
Maria Kane: End of the ride. Now get the last memory card. [I took the last memory card with ease.]
Maria Kane: SAMs! Dammit, I have to pull back! Find some explosives and take them out, then I'll come pick you up.
I need to destroy two SAM sites. Fortunately, I had 8 fragmentation grenades to take them out. After destroying the SAM sites, I'm left with 4 of them.
Maria Kane: Good job, I'm coming back to pick you up as fast as I can. Keep yourself alive.
Rico: Goddammit Kane, you better get a move on! [Literally, after a few seconds. Stop complaining man. You had more than enough weapons to kill them all.] Running out of options, Kane..
Maria Kane: Don't worry, use your grenades, do your stuff, I'll be there soon!
Rico: Well, you'd better make it quick... or you'll have to bring me back in a dog food can.
Maria Kane: The idea appeals to me, but somehow I doubt it's gonna happen!
Rico: This is getting ridiculous, Kane. Next time, it's you on the ground and me in the chopper.
Maria Kane: Chain of command baby. It's all about chain of command. Go, go, go...get outta there now!
Finally, the first agency mission is completed and Rico is safely grappling onto the chopper and somersaulting himself into the chopper.
Maria Kane: So much for the element of surprise.
Rico: Yeah? You think we blew our cover?
Maria Kane: You get the memory cards, so I guess we're still one step ahead.
Rico: And where does that step take us?
Maria Kane: The Agency's last contact here on Panau, Karl Blaine.
Rico: What's his story?
Maria Kane: A Swedish ex-charity worker. Now a professional gambler and alcoholic.
Rico: And we trust a guy like that?
Maria Kane: No...but we've got no choice. Blaine knows more about this island than anyone. Now, kick back for a while, enjoy the ride.
Now, we finally arrived at Blaine Residence, Tanah Raya.
Maria Kane: Ok! Here we are. Let's go find Blaine!
[A television showing Pandak Panay giving a speech.]
Pandak Panay: People of Panau. It is I, your beloved President. Today I have issued the order to close down and clear out the den of foreign decadence called Panau Falls Casino. All foreign nationals in this casino will be rounded up and tried before deportation. Let it be known that those who harbour foreign criminals and unpatriotic scum will be brought before the court and tried as traitors.
Rico: [Overidding Pandak Panay's voice on television.] I've seen some dumps in my time, but this place.
Maria Kane: It's worse than we expected.
Unknown woman: [Pointing a revolver at Maria Kane.] Who are you and what is your business here?
Rico: [His turn to aim his pistol at the mystery woman.] I'd be careful now.
Maria Kane: We're friends of Karl.
Unknown woman: Karl has no friends.
Maria Kane: Apart from you, Jade Tan. You're his girl, right?
Jade Tan: Hah, you must be spooks. Spooks' hoping to talk to Karl. You're way too late, lady. He's at the casino.
Rico: What, THAT casino?
Jade Tan: Sure, that's where he makes his living.
Rico: Yea, well dying ain't much of a living. We need to get there fast.
Jade Tan: Then you better hop on. They'll swat that bird out of the sky on sight.
Maria Kane: I gotta go, but I'll keep an eye on you! Help you out if I can!
Jade Tan: So honey, let's go!
Rico: Adios!
[After arriving in the outskirts of the casino]
Jade Tan: Your stop. If you hurry, you might just save his sorry ass.
Rico: You don't think too highly of him.
Jade Tan: If the government gets their hands on Karl, they'll surely come looking for me too. So as of right now, I'm over that bum. And out of here.
Rico: Maybe I see you again.
Jade Tan: Or maybe not. This island is a playground to some....but a graveyard to others. Selamat Jalan Spook!
