This will explicitly say that the Vice President's role in the electoral certification is purely ceremonial. It will also raise the threshold for objections to a state's slate of electors. The new legislation would raise the threshold for an objection to 20% of the members of each chamber. This will avoid another situation like we had on January 6th where it took only one member of each chamber to object.
Between the Midterms and this reform, we significantly lowered the risk of another January 6th type plot.
We aren't fully clear. There are still a lot of election deniers that won, and in a couple of states election deniers occupy key state election positions. But this is still a very major step to reduce the potential avenues for an election crisis.
Great news!
