IBM has recently announced their latest innovation in the form of the smallest computer unit in the world. So small, the dimensions of this computer even more mini than a grain of salt. How small?
It turns out this computer dimensional dimensions 1x1mm!
This device was first introduced by IBM at the IBM Think Conference! 2018 which began on March 19, 2018 ago.
The mini supercomputer developed by IBM has about 1 million transistors that will need the help of a microscope to see what components are in it.
Although looks futuristic and sophisticated, in fact, super minicomputer IBM is produced with a very cheap production costs less than ten cents.
The world's smallest computer comes with an x86 chip. Mni this computer is able to monitor, analyze, communicate, and even process data. In addition, the computer is also equipped with SRAM for memory and photo-voltaic cells for its power supply. Not only that, this device is also able to connect to the data network using LEDs and photo detections.
This device is part of the 5 IMB Research 5 projects announced at the event. As the name suggests, this project is about IBM Research that is working on five technologies based on the development of Artificial Intelligence (AI), the blockchain, Crypto-anchor, encryption, and the Internet of Things (IoT).
The purpose of Crypto-anchor in computer devices is actually to help eliminate widespread false products globally. Crypto-anchors can be embedded in the device to help detect the authenticity of the goods. Crypto-anchors are inserted is considered very safe because it can not be cloned.
IBM will make the first computer model with Crypto-anchor that will be available in the next 18 months. The company also plans to throw the product into the global market within the next five years.
