The entire Western establishment is so corrupted by money and the power to violate and abuse the public that comes with having too much money - that the path of least resistance to personal wealth and power for would-be politicians, academics, or those in the Western establishment “news” industry, is to serve the corrupt powers in place.
To challenge and expose those corrupt powers literally can abruptly end careers or stop them from getting off the ground. For some it means imprisonment, torture and or death. Look at Assange who violated no existing laws while exposing Western establishment crimes.
