Enterprise Rental Car, they will rip you off

Okay most of my readers know by now I was in a car accident

It totaled my van, and I had to get a rental car for a few days. My insurance covered the rental but I paid for the additional insurance for two reason. The first the way my luck has been lately and the second no sooner I don't I will have another claim on my insurance. I didn't want that.

Since insurance paid the claim quickly

I didn't need the rental for all the days it was rented for. So I returned it so I would get my insurance money back. They told me they refunded my money and gave me a paper saying they did. But it hasn't been refunded. If I had used my bank card for the insurance I would think it needs a few days to appear in my account. But I didn't I used my paypal business card. I like to use it as a consumer for a few reasons, but the main reason is they protect my money and when I get ripped off they get my money back quicker. (I have a love hate relationship with them as a merchant, because of scammers, but that isn't paypal's fault)

When the money wasn't refunded I contacted Enterprise

They told me it might be that it won't happen till they batch out at the end of the evening. Okay fine, but today it still isn't there. So I called and didn't get any information to prove they sent me the money, so then I went down there. I got angry and told them if my money wasn't returned I would be doing this blog telling about how Enterprise rips you off. I may even go down there and stand outside with a sign that say "Enterprise Will Rip You Off" But before I did that I got the corporate number to call and see if I could get this resolved.

Once again they said it was refunded.

Okay give me a transaction number, what you don't have that? You should have that. I have transaction numbers for the charges, you should have one for the refund. After 2 people on the corporate line and getting no where. I called Paypal. I told them what is going on. And they looked and said I have no pending refund, from Enterprise or anyone else for that matter. Now I am on hold to the escalation line. They will help me get my refund. But the one thing I can not stand is shady business practices.

Banks and Paypal works differently because Paypal isn't a bank

Paypal is a processing service though you can load money to your paypal account, in reality paypal is a merchant processing service. Meaning they process credit, debit and checking and clear the charges. So when you use your paypal account, and you get a refund, it happens immediately and becomes available. Where as a bank will take 2-3 business days or longer to process a refund, but you will see it, but it won't be available yet.

So why Enterprise thinks they can get away with this

I have news for them they can't. How many other people have they ripped off, because the customer didn't check their account statement. Oh and I had the car for less than 48 hours but they charged me 3 days of insurance. Which is total BS. I had the car for 36 hours in all. But got charged 3 days of insurance. That is shady af. Each day of insurance should cover 24 full hours of coverage, but nope you have the car 8 hours one day that is a day of insurance, a full day and the next day a few hours and return it you get charged 3 days, and that is so shady.

ENTERPRISE THE COMPANY THAT WILL PICK YOU UP AND RIP YOU OFF

If you have rented from them you might want to check your account statements, because you likely have been ripped off.

You can escalate through Paypal but if enterprise has agreement that you signed xxx amount of days they will charge you for it. I rent cars there all the time. Actually just returned one yesterday. I’m use to extending my time but this time I returned early. They didn’t discount me the 2 days I returned it early, it’s a weekly rate with 2 free days. But either way I retuned it.

Paypal most likely won’t help, depending on what enterprise had for the contract. Better off putting that kind of thing on American Express.

they are helping and my money is being refunded today. He is finishing it up now. They had no transaction number if they refunded the money they would have had a transaction number. One is issued for all payments sent or received.

He came back on the line and said it would be a couple of hours but my credit will be on my account soon. Paypal has always done me right as a consumer.

And paypal got my money returned. For consumer protection they rock. And is faster than banks or credit card compnaies.

#1 thing I learned today! Don't mess with @tecnosgirl . Glad you took initiative, its crazy how these big companies think they can just treat us little people like shit. Yet we're what keep their business running. So sad...

As a small business owner through out the years, I have always gone the extra steps to make sure my customers are happy. I would never rip a customer off. Matter of fact I once ran into an issue due to no fault of my own or my customer so to make it right, I cancelled the rest of the payments due on the purchase and the purchase was his, and I took the lost, because doing right by your customers is the only way to do business.

Couldn't agree more. I hope the good karma pays off!

I don't know if people would say it is good Karma or not, most would say I am a total bitch when people try to rip me off, and I get it made right more times than not because I scare people when I get pissed. Which is funny cause I am 5'5 and I don't think I am a scary person at all. But I have been told I scare people when I get mad. And this has made me mad.

Most of the time I am nice as can be, till someone tries shady stuff.

That's what happens when people mistake nice for gullible. The only question is how long is the 'fuse'. The bigger the bully, the shorter the fuse.

Hope the refund shows up shortly.

With everything going on my own fuse for bs is short. I have too much too do and we have been bleeding money. I am to my breaking point with that crap.

thanks for info

Next time (hopefully there IS no next time), you need to rent a car, check out the rental service at Checkered Flag on the northeast corner of 53rd and Columbus. And 53rd Street Secure Storage has several kinds of vehicles when you're ready to do your moving next week.

Enterprise is a terrible company. Our truck was totaled by our insurance due to floodwaters from Hurricane Harvey. In the aftermath of the storm, it took Enterprise 3 MONTHS to find us a rental vehicle, AND we had to get a ride and travel hours away to pick up said rental vehicle. Enterprise and our vehicle insurance have some sort of contract together, and this is the only company our insurance would pay for a rental vehicle. It is a racket.
