Krnel's Writing contest - Why is truth important ?

Hey guys , so I just saw this contest . And I decided to give it a try. Because I really connect with this topic.

As silly as it may sound , I am a person who values truth beyond anything and everything. Mainly because of the way I was brought up. In my childhood , I really remember every time I tried to lie , my grandma used to beat me . It was not even big lies , but still. I remember this one time , my grandma always used to cut my pencil into two and give me one small piece , but I wanted the whole pencil , I still don't know why she used to do that. She used to make sure I always don't throw food , she always told me , just take how much you can eat. There are many people out there who are hungry and don't have any money or means to buy food , so when God has granted you this food. You shouldn't throw . Yes , so that time when I wanted the whole pencil I liked and said something , and for that I got a lot of beating and after that there was this older guy , who used to come to my house to teach me English. So when he came and he saw my hand was all red , he asked me , what it was , and I liked again. Oh I feel like I was such a big liar. Then again , because he was teaching me , so he helped me do my homework , so at school they asked me about the homework , like how I finished topics which they didn't even start , and I didn't say anything , so my teacher made me stand up , and shouted a lot at me . That was the wake up call I was waiting for. Then she told me , I will give you one last chance to come clean. So at last I told about my tutor. And then my teacher caringly carased my hair and said , Dear if you lie , you will always be a liar , because you would want to cover up your other lie with another one and so on,... It will make you forget what is truth .. so you must make sure no matter what you don't lie

And after that I changed alot , I was no longer a lying person. Then I became a total truth person , which made my life pretty hard. Because whatever anyone asked me , I would always tell the truth , sometimes my parents don't want me to say something , but since I'm truthful now , I would say everything. Which made my parents pretty unhappy. Then again as I get older I understood that I should keep some things and shouldn't just blabber everything to everyone.

Again , there was this other time in school when nobody in my class studied for the class test and we all planned to copy , but I couldn't go through with it. Oh I know how pathetic I may sound , but this is so true. So before handing in the paper I wore on the top , I'm so sorry teacher I copied in this test , please forgive me , I didn't study for this one , I will make sure I study for the next one

Thereafter I never lied , when I had a crush I told , I had no option . I couldn't control my tongue . Even at University now , I see most of my classmates copying , but I can never I feel it's a sin to copy. It's not truth. I feel failing after working hard , is so much better than copying and passing .

Why is being truthful important to me?

  1. Mostly because I believe only if you are truthful any relationship can last , if you started a relationship with a lie , then it's like Titanic , although it was named unsinkable ship, it just needed to hit a big iceberg to sink .

  2. Then only you can be yourself. I felt this alot , when I'm being truthful , I feel like I'm so free. I don't have anything weighing me down. And I feel like I can say what is on my mind. I don't have to see which part of the lie I have edit and say.

  3. It shows you who is real and who is fake , this has happened in my life , when someone constantly lies directly to your face , and the best part is you know it's a lie. And they were so close to your heart. That it hurts you . If it's a situation where you have no idea the person is lying too , one day you will find out and you will hate yourself for letting them into your life. Believe me , I felt like that , I felt that I should have refined my friends. I shouldn't have eveb met some of my friends.

4 . It will increase the value of your life. If you are truthful , then that inturn means that , you are a person who has a lot of other good values too. Which also means you were raised the right way. And everyone would ultimately want a partner or a friend in you. Because in today's world it is practically impossible to be friends with someone who has pure intentions.

  1. It helps defeat evil , just like how in a court , truth helps put in the criminal , truth is a light which shines so bright , even though today the lie may win , it wont will forever . The light that is the truth will shine and spread it's wings one day.

  2. Truth is also important for the greater picture , I feel people just want to have momentary pleasure by lying , but if we are all being truthful , then we can have a better life in the future. A life were we all teach our kids the values that we own. Hence they teach theirs. And it spreads. Just like bad things spread , good things can also spread.

And offcourse being a Christian I feel truth is what determines the whole difference between being a sinner or not. So for having that eternal life , we must try to be as truthful as possible.
