"You're sentenced to life imprisonment" the judge said.
Dayo stood there watching his once free life being taken into bondage for an entire lifetime.
What had he done, he didn't intend to kill her, it was all an accident, but the court saw it differently. He had unknowingly given up his freedom. What was he to do, the verdict had already been given. Living free was a near impossibility. His aspirations and dreams now seemed bleak. How was he to take care of his aged grandmother, when he was in bondage.
His uncle would take everything without any form of resistance from anyone. He was the only one that could stand up to him.
As far as he was concerned, his life was finished, there was nothing to live for. He now knew how valuable it was to live free. "You don't know the value of something until you lose it" those words came back to haunt him. He just stood there weeping, he hadn't achieved much with his free life, it wasn't free any longer.
