That's Right! i am giving away 10 SBI just for your ideas

last week I ran the first Mystery Box Giveaway here on Steemit and although it was a good contest I was left feeling unsatisfied that it would be something that could run for further series. So I have been racking my brain at how I could bring a successful and ongoing Mystery Box Giveaway to the platform.

What is a Mystery Box?

The premise of the box is as follows... A mystery Box is a prize where it's content are hidden and not revealed until it has been won. They can be more than one Mystery Box in case of which box contains the prize. A Mystery Box can be added to but never taken from while the contest is running so the prize may become greater the more traffic comes through the post.

The Brief

Come up with an idea/s on what will make a good Mystery Box contest here on Steemit. You could write a post about your ideas and drop in a link or you could just write your ideas in the comment section below.
Your ideas can include the following...

  • What is the prize?
  • How long is the contest?
  • How will this help other Steemit users?
  • How will they know that it's genuine?
  • How can it be self-sustained to ensure a prize every week?
  • Does it bring value to Steem?

The best and most thought idea/s will be rewarded with SteemBasicIncome

  • 6 SBI for the winner
  • 3 for second place
  • 1 for third
so get your thinking hats on you have one week to get your ideas through to me.

How about a Steemit scavenger hunt.

The prize can be 80% of the value of the upvotes on that post upon payout. The contest is for seven days. It will help other Steemit users by bringing traffic to their blogs, potentially helping them get other followers as well as upvotes and comments. I think it will be obvious this is genuine if you do it right. Self-sustained: Once it catches on, people will flock here to upvote your posts and enter the contest. If you don't require an upvote, reblog, or comment to enter, you can submit your contest every week to @contestkings. But people will want to upvote and reblog so that they can help you promote the post to drive up the prize pool.

This will definitely bring value to Steem. It will also get people actively checking out each other's blogs. Here's what you do:

  1. In each post, you pick a certain number of Steemians (5, 7 10, whatever) to mention by their Steemit handle. This helps promote the contest. People mentioned in the post can't enter, but they'll likely help you promote it because they're mentioned. You'll want to rotate these from week to week so you aren't mentioning the same people every week.
  2. Challenge your readers to find one specific item in each of the blogs from the people mentioned. Don't mention which specific blog, just the specific item. But make it limited to just the past 3, 5, or 7 posts. Examples can be an image in one of the photos, or a description of a divider, or a link in the footer, or a specific word or phrase. Make it challenging but not impossible.

If you do this on the same day every week, people will look forward to the contest and try to enter. Make it fun by looking for weird or fun things to mention that people will actually have to look for. Non-obvious things.

I hope I explained this well. I think it could work.

This Treasure Hunt is a fantastic Idea!
In fact, it was something that Capn @dreemsteem had done on @shadowspub's The Ramble for quite a few months. It works great. With people checking out posts, reading and enjoying the game!

6 sbi on its way thank you for your ideas

Thanks. I'm glad I could help.

I like the idea of that people would have read and look at other posts in order to be complete the challenge. this is the sort of idea I want my giveaway to go. active engagement is an important part of keeping steemit alive.
So for example, if i asked...

What does @blockcurator say garden gnomes are looking for?

the answer would lead them here: https://steemit.com/steemit/@blockurator/3-things-i-wish-to-say-this-happy-saturday-evening-0d7f638df5979est
and they would be looking for:

but just providing the answer: working partners would be suffice

but how do people submit the answer without letting everyone else know?

If they write a post then all the answers are in one place and same if they comment below then you get everyone copying.
unless you mean the first person to come back with all the correct answers then that could work but it if they are guessed in the first day then people will not bother entering for the remaining 6. hmmm
anyway I can rack my brain on this all day but that does not change how great your answer is and how well thought out it comes across.
I really like it and I think it has potential.

If they write a post then all the answers are in one place and same if they comment below then you get everyone copying.

Good point. You can give the prize to the first person who gets all the answers correct, but not reveal them until after payout.

all points were taken on board and I will be having a big think about it. but i do love the idea. good luck

Your balance is below $0.3. Your account is running low and should be replenished. You have roughly 10 more @dustsweeper votes. Check out the Dustsweeper FAQ here: https://steemit.com/dustsweeper/@dustsweeper/dustsweeper-faq

Yep - it could work cuz it did work almost exactly like that ;)

and it was GREAT fun for MONTHS!!! We took a hiatus and have been waiting to come back to launch it again - but if @father2b has the energy and desire to make a go of it - I'll give him all my tips and tricks and let him have at it! :)

You can give particular topics to people to write about or click a photograph on that topic. And ask them to comment down below or use a specific tag and the best 4-5 entries you can reward with a special mystery box.

Another idea would be to create 10-20 mystery boxes and number them 1 to 20. Each member has to comment down below a number of the mystery box they want to open for them. And after the post pays out you can use random number generator to select 2-3 winners. This way there will be a mystery to contest like the name itself states. Mystery Box.

I’m pleased that you have focused on the word mystery and added an element of mystery to the giveaway. This is the sort of direction I am wanting to take. Thank you and good luck

@father2b Thank you sir.

We have a new game coming up too ( in the @welcomewagon) you're more than welcome to join!!! It's open to everyone - so come play on that too! hehehe
