One week ago, I challenged you with the task of answering my question of what would you do with $50 SBD.
Entries
Here are the entries into the contest in the order they were received along with my personal thoughts of each one.
@timmo3663
You upvoted every reply to the contest at the time of your entry--awesome job of sharing the wealth and helping fellow users! This act shows you "get" what it means to be on Steemit.

@clarkfarmstead
I really liked your illustration of how your rabbits are multi-faceted resources on your homestead. Pointing out that they are food, income, and heat your greenhouse. I really look forward to seeing your underground greenhouse the rabbits are in!

@farmandadventure
Your post was an eye-opener on the value of a water catchment system. Seeing your pond nearly dried up was proof enough.

@preppers
As far as I could tell, this was your first post on Steemit! That meant a lot to me. Your article was hands-down the most convincing for turning the money into Steem Power and not something physical right away. The way you incorporated links to other user posts was both awesome and chivalrous. You should post more often! Your writing style is wonderful.
@minighomestead
A first aid kit is essential for everyone! Your post reminded me to take stock of our kits and inspired me to create something new!

@codypanama
So cool that you're living your dream in Panama and while working in Canada? Eager to read more!
@overthewait
I've been interested in straw bale gardening ever since first hearing about it many years ago. I also get a kick out of knowing someone who is just entering their garden season as we are ending ours. Silly, but still neat to me.

@stortebeker
Your entry was by far the most creative in a sense of a global impact. I am very interested to see this developed and learn more to hopefully play a part in it!

@goldendawne
Your post was loaded with goals! I love a good Goals List. All of your items are things we share in common and wish to expand as well. Great ideas!

@frugallady
I had never heard of a bee's wrap until your post. It sounds really cool and I am eager to learn more. I would love to read a post from you on how to make it and how to use it!

Aquaponics is very interesting to me. I look forward to you building yours and sharing your steps along the way!

Contest Thoughts
This was my first time hosting a contest on Steemit. I have entered a handful during my 3 months being here and have always enjoyed the challenge that comes with competing for a prize. I wanted the reward to be especially awesome, so I funded the $50 SBD myself from outside of Steemit.
To be completely honest, I didn't get nearly as big of a turnout as I thought I would and was a little disappointed in the total number of participants. I had hoped to generate some excitement over the contest and to find myself swimming in entries.
That being said, I now know those who will step up to a challenge and who are very resourceful when it comes to originality of ideas! Everyone's ideas or reasons were unique and very different. You all truly are a resourceful group!
Picking a Winner
I was looking for an entry that was creative, resourceful, and thrifty. In addition, I wanted a post that showed the planning and thought process of the person to say to me that they were completely ready to turn their idea into a reality.
With these goals in mind, I selected someone who met all of these and more...
The suspense is killing you, isn't it?
How about now?
@overthewait
@overthewait exhibited all of the above traits and more with his post entry. He not only met the goals of the project, but is ready and willing to match the winnings to make the outcome even better! His goal to grow 80% of his family's produce and save $2,000 all while using discarded or otherwise not-as-useful materials is wonderful!
I cannot wait to see this garden literally grow and take shape! Congratulations @overthewait!
Thank You
I want to think you all for participating in this contest and I want to challenge you. Take the next bit of money you can, and make your ideas come true!
See you on the next post,
Thank you so very much. I honestly did not expect to win this challenge, there were some very wise and or entertaining entries for @greenacrehome to choose from. I'm honoured to be given this opportunity. I am looking forward to get started on the project very soon so keep an eye out for updates on my progress.
Thank you all for all the kind words and encouragement. Stoked :-)
