PeoplePhotographyContest #1 - combining photos with storytelling

Dear Steemians,

I see a lot of photo contests on this platform, and I am delighted to see how many enthusiastic photos are shared. Not only professional photographers get the chance to spread their work, amateur photographers also have the possibility to enthusiastically share their little art projects. I follow the ColorChallenge, black and white photography and the photo challenge with attention for all the continents in this beautiful world. The positive atmosphere and the support people give each other is fantastic to see and it shows the community spirit at Steemit. Some have doubt about this, but I see it as proof that not everyone is here to get rich quickly.

I would like to add another contest to this platform. One that gives attention to one of the most fascinating and diverse things on earth: the human being. I would like to call it #peoplephotographycontest.

The approach would be slightly different than the existing photo contests. Off course, I would like to see a photo, but also the story behind it. You could say I would like to combine photos with storytelling. I find it fascinating to know in which phase of a person's life the picture was taken and why that particular picture has become so important. Sometimes I miss these stories. For me, a picture can also become much more beautiful, if I understand the reason for taking it.

To illustrate an example:

It is actually very difficult for me to explain why this picture is so important to me. It was taken during a trip to Cuba in 2009. In periods of stress I regularly look at it. It helps me to calm down and put things in perspective. Today we have to fight the rat race. Everything has to go fast. At social media, friends expect us to respond immediately. We talk ourselves into things. We need a successful job, have to make long journeys, make the most of our lives, etc. You only live once, you know... This is actually far from who I am and how I want to live. This photo helps me to remember this. For me, it shows the real connection between people. These people radiate peace and joy in life. It helps me to make time for things that are really important.

How to participate?

There is only one rule: people have to play a central role. In addition, your photo must be linked to a story. So I will not only judge the photo, but also the story. You can place your image in the comment section below. There are no restriction in words. I think it's more important that people get a place to tell their story. I will read it with pleasure anyway.

I am thinking to do this contest on a weekly basis. The winner will be announced every Monday. There is no fixed reward. Every winner gets 20% SDB. The bigger the contest gets, the greater the reward.
