On Thursday, 1/5 of the faculty staff at the Ohio State University went to a bar for drinks, and on Friday, 5/8 of the faculty staff who had not gone to the drinks on Thursday had the opportunity to go.

What fraction of the faculty staff in the university did not go to the drinks either day?

It is 1/5 on thursday and (4/5) * (5/8)
In total this is 7/10 or 70%
And then the opposite is 30% which are not going.
J

4/5ths or 80%

(4/5) did not go for drinks on Friday
(3/8) * (4/5) did not get the opportunity to go.
That means (3/8)*(4/5) = (3/10) or 30% of staff did not go to drinks on either day.

3/10 didn't go!

1/5 went on Thursday.

5/8 of those 4/5, went on Friday, that means 1/2 went

That means 1/5 + 1/2, being 7/10 went

Therefore. 3/10 of them didn't go at all.

3/10 did not go either day

Here you caught me... i'm sleepy and hardly see.

So its 5/8 from 4/5 who didn't left university. That, assuming the 5/8 really went to drink juice.
Result that... i don't think the ones with opportunities has gone, so i make calculations for nothing.

The other 4/5 didn't went to drink, because opportunity does not mean that they did go... and me go to sleeeep now :-)

gn and thanks for trying to make our brain alive again

drink juice? How can you say it was juice :P :)

hahahaaa, at that point you believe me that i was sleepy :-))) who knows where i read or thought about juice... Maybe because i want to not spread bad things here? I love to live life at its best, if it lets me but don't want to spread bad things.
And don't think you are a bad person. So...

If you insist, they may drink other beverages :-). Especially if they are in university. We all been there and had our best life moments. Nothing compare to that moments in life where you came from high school with guidance from teachers and in faculty you are kind of free.
You decide everything you do and be responsible about all you do.

Damn they were the best years of my life regarding fun :-)

So... let's "bang a glass" of... beverage and dance :-)))

What did you study?

Hmm, University was at Faculty of Technological Equipment (hope that's the name in english). But never worked in that area.

Since i graduated i worked in advertising, graphic design and at some point also started photography.

Why? :-)
Is my math so bad?

hahaha....no
Your math is not that bad :D
just wanted to know, as you mentioned that you studied at the university. I am also post graduate, and I like when meeting people with same mental level.

Not that bad... for an engineer is bad bad bad :-))).

But, i lost exercise and this ones are for kids , so here can be an excuse :-)

Yes, but in so many moments educated people do so many bad things. We see that daily in the world how big institutions with that educated people do only bad for others.
So, i don't like to praise my education. Maybe when i went to interviews... until some point.

I love simple people who do things from their heart not from their knowledge. This do make a difference.

p.s.: don't be mad that i talk too much, but from what i see steemit kinda do that to me, except to write posts. Ideas i have a lot. But when i go to write, usually not in the idea moment, i lose words.
So i do write on posts more :-)

100 x 1/5 = 20ppl went on Thursday
100-20=80ppl
5/8x80= 50ppl on Friday

Therefore
80-50=30ppl meaning 3/10 did not go

3/10 is correct, because suppose if there are 40 peoples were in community then on Thursday 1/5 of 40 ie. 8 peoples were go to drink on Thursday. 40 - 8 = 32 peoples are remaining of the faculty. Then 5/8 of remaining 32 ie. 20 peoples go for drink on Friday
So, total 8 on Thursday and 20 on Friday go for drink ie. 28 out of 40 goes for drink and remaining 40 - 28 = 12, not going for drink either day.
Then the fraction of the people of the faculty staff not going for drink on either day was 12 /40 ie. 3/10

3/10
