Leadership is a position where you have to exhibit certain traits over and over again which later become predictable and as time passes by a noticeable pattern will begin to emerge which might need very sensitive strategy and cognitive reflection to be review and that’s exactly where the game of chess comes in.

Chess is a game that can teach leaders how to think strategically and analyze situations critically starting by understanding the roles of the different pieces on the board and the movements each pieces can make.

“Chess is a game of art and science….determining which piece to move comes with great insight and knowledge”

LEADER CHESS

A leader is facing challenges as he try to move a piece forward from the whole board, each move he made became a calculated action and after each experience he must try to analyze his moves and determine ahead of time what the next potential step will be depending on which directions his followers decide to go. He must be able to anticipate his follower’s moves by becoming more of an observer with the ability to control or twist the outcome to his team favour.

As a leader playing your chess with adequate precision and good strategic finesses will bring you best results and increase your leadership skills more.

MAKING OF LEADER BOARD

As a leader some attributes must be possess in order to perform excellently on the chess board and some of these attributes are discuss below.

He must start early

As a leader you must start your building earlier than any other member of the team because just as timing is a major attribute in the game of chess so is it in leadership too.

There is a great correlation between the age at which players started to practice chess vigorously and their chess skill, their skills tend to increase with their age so is leadership status.

A leader must always sacrifice his comfort zone and strive more than his followers in order to maintain that leadership status and the responsibilities that comes with it.

He must train regularly

Training is the life of a chess player because the more he train the more he will get more knowledge and insight about the game, those that obtain the status of grandmaster today don’t just get there because they are genius but rather because they practice more than their opponents.

A leader must acquire enough training experience on board if he truly want to lead his followers smoothly without anyone going against his authority because when the people he is leading begin to raise issues and he fail to contribute as much as require then such leader is losing his grip on the game little by little.

He must be sound logically and intellectually

Chess is a game that requires quick and sharp thinking so a player must possess high intellectual capability if such player wants to excel in the game, such is the case of a leader too he must possess high intellectual capability so as to be able to provide quick and adequate responses to any issue or questions raise by his followers and also in order to project his team forward.

He must master the whole chess board

It’s inevitable for a chess player to know every piece on the chess board starting from the pawn which is most prone to attack on the board then to the rook then to the knight all the way up to the king, so is it important for a leader to know every member of his team and their specifications. A leader must try as much as possible to know every detail about those people he is leading so as to know their usefulness and wants.

He must possess great decision making

A chess player will always make over 30 noticeable moves and numerous transform decisions, so a great player must be versatile in his decision making; At times it’s the game of chess that make one develop a sharp brain which along the way enhance one decision making. Such is the case of a great leader too, he must possess tremendous decision making trait.

He must plan ahead so as not to break under opponent pressure

Chess is a plan game, so there must always be a plan ahead because threats will come from many directions and at a particular point in time it might look like it’s over but by the time you look closely and analyze the threats and made a plan then the queen will surely find a safe heaven.

A leader too must possess this attribute because attacks will come from different angles but he must be able to maintain his coolness and guide his team to their safe heaven.

A chess player needs a lot of training to become a good chess player because practice is the heart and soul of the game but to become a great chess player [grandmaster] requires more than mere practice; it require all the aforementioned attributes because it’s a game of art and science that require great determination so is leadership position, you need a great determination and a chess like attribute to discharge well.

@nuges Well done for sticking at it! Followed.

This is great, leadership requires commitment , supporting , and sacrifices.

Leadership start from somewhere, you dont need to have what it really needed before you become a leader.
When you develop your leadership mind, the potentials will start growing and developing in you, which will see you more farther than today.

And some people will see you as their role model when you exhibit your leadership role.

Quite creative.
