Day 9 of the Daily Steemit Selfie Challenge begins now!
Our registered players are competing against each other in an elimination endurance contest where their selfies must be posted on a daily basis and must meet the theme qualifications. Not only must they post their qualifying selfies prior to the deadline to avoid elimination, they are also competing against one another for bonus points. In each round, I will reward at least two selfies with bonus points.

Nice work mate @bluelightbandit, I think it will be totally impossible for me to win this quick draw, as I need to take a pic from my phone. Then email it from phone to pc (as I can't post pics directly from my phone) which can take minutes hours even then post it here, which normally only takes the 3rd or 4th time, oh and then there's the waking up at 3am thing, LOL, nice one brother, you are quick to the draw, I'd like to see you with a 6 shooter. I feel ya pain man, I have to do the email thing to and it is a pain in the arse. I do have high speed internet that helps but the steemit fairy likes to mess with me every now and then. I did want to mention a couple of my knives specifically, as I think here are a few people in here that might be interested.
The two in this pic have history with me and before. The one on the right is an Iraqi AK47 bayonet that I brought home from Gulf War 1 in 1991.
The knife with the knuckles is probably the most collectible knife I own.
It's an ORIGINAL WW I Trench Knife.
It was made by the L,F, & C company in 1918 and will be 100 years old next year. I had coveted this knife for many years and was finally able to find one at a show about 25 years ago. Had it ever since.

I'm late posting because today has been a very traumatic day for me, and I feel like my heart has been cut with a knife. For the second time in just a few months we had to have a beloved kitty put to sleep. I spent most of the day petting him and we just returned from the vet's about half an hour ago. :-(

This is a traditional Cretan knife. It was given to me as a wedding present by our maid of honour who is from my wife's home town of Chania.
The inscription translates to:
In Crete it is trditional a knife to give to honour their friends and anyone they distinguish
I now have two of these knives. The second one was presented to me by my mother-in-law.
It's always a good idea to be on good terms with a Cretan mother-in-law ;-)

With camera timers and other things there is no way to know who took some photos (not the one that you are talking about) so a few days back I mentioned as long as people are taking new photos each day.... I know that it supposed to be a selfie contest, but I can't verify anything at a distance, so all someone has to do is claim timer and not have someone else be seen in the photo...

Well, if the comment below is referring to this: "as long as a new, original entry is made every day, players will not be eliminated. I will no longer be asking about who took the photo or other such things" then it sounds like we can start using photoshop? It does not really sound like it has to even be a picture of us any more? Sorry, it did not help. I did see that on day 5, but then every day since then you have said "selfie." Just any new photo with the item you ask for qualifies now?

If the photo contains the item but has added editing, it will not get a bonus point.
The goal is to have a selfie, which means that the person who registered the username during the signups should be in the photo. If they are not, it will not qualify.
These contests are a lot of work on my end and I try to run them to reward others and make steemit an even more entertaining place to be.

Papa, understand I am on my way out the door. I have had it with the bots. The humans here have willingly surrendered curation to bots. Bots now decide what posts get upvoted which I think is (cover the lil pepper's ears) bullshit. But today I was brutally awakened to the reality that bots are downvoting original content with no human oversight. Humans have willingly chosen to let AI decide which humans are "worthy." I am finishing your contest for probably stupid reasons that are all my own, but I am NOT going to have bots judging me. Won't happen. So, I am an angry little minnow, just riding this one last contest out because, frankly, I could use the money. I invested a LOT of time and effort into this platform.
I made new friends, I helped encourage newcomers, I brought at least one person here... but bots will destroy what you and I have tried to do. I hope you find a way to improve the situation. As for me. I am going to win this unless you find some bullshit excuse to disqualify me. @longsilver will come in second. We are doing this together, for fun, trying be play it straight and by the rules. Then I am outta here. I don't know what he plans to do. The bots are destroying what could have been awesome, and you are a big part of what made it awesome. I hope you find a way to preserve it.

No way! I love this game! I’ll definitely be back. Maybe Steemit felt it time I was to be eliminated. My photo, which was pretty great, because I was trying for a bonus point, appeared to post, but when I read that I was eliminated, I went back to see.... It was sitting there, at the top, with the option to post. 😩. Things must have frozen. I’ve been having some trouble with Steemit lately. Such is life! I’ll be back when it starts over! Best game on steemit, in my opinion. It gave my family and I a lot of laughs. Especially, when my daughter walked in the kitchen and saw my drawn on beard. Hahaha!
