Why the fortune cookie ... well, because being a poet is a little like having a head full of fortunes, not a pocket-full, but definitely a head full. This a call out to all you cookie monsters to join in on another #poetryweekend. Today is Friday and it is time to write a new piece to start off the weekend.

That's right ... it is #fridaypoets.

Here are the rules.

  • Up vote this post and re-esteem it. I check:)
  • Visit at least three other Friday poets and comment and up vote their COMMENT here. You can also upvote their post if you got the upvote power but it is not necessary.
  • Drop your link below to a poem you wrote today … that’s Friday wherever you are, or were.
  • Make one of your tags #fridaypoets and place @prydefoltz in the title
  • I will upvote and comment, to the best of my ability, on everyone who takes part having followed the rules. I should be able to get to everyone within the week. So that will be two upvotes one for your comment and one for your post.
  • The liquid payout from this post (SBD) will go to the winner and participants.
  • I will take part in the contest by writing a poem but I will NOT share in the SBD payout.
  • Have fun and maybe crack a smile.

Tomorrow is #haikusaturday and Sunday is #deadpoem; so stay involved and writing. I am feeling a little short on time. I will come back a little later and update this post with last week's prizes:) Stay tuned:)Wait this is the net ... stay hooked up and buffered:)

Can't wait to see what you all come up with. Happy cookie crunching:):):)

Update. Last week we received a liquid payout of rought 0.7 SBD. The following people will all receive 0.175 SBD.

@zeleiracordero
@corderosiete
@marlyncabrera
@yomismosoy

A note on #poetryweekend. I am struggling to keep up with the workload and so I am going to minimize things a tad. I will no longer run #fridaypoets but will continue with #haikusatruday and #deadpoems. All is not lost for the Friday poetry crew. @margaretwise runs her own Friday poetry challenge #poemchallenge on Fridays; so let's join in there:):):)

The tiger and the mantis are fabulous predatory animals, for this reason humans seek to imitate their fighting techniques as a sport.

They do ... some for empowerment and some in search of worth:)

Although the comparison between a tiger and a mantis seems absurd, it is believed that there is much Chinese wisdom in this poetic contraption that you bring us today, dear Pryde. The mantis is the natural enemy of the cicada, which falls in love with its song for the tiger ... But what about that? The food chain makes a great leap between the tiger and the mantis, however, according to the approach of the title "The tiger evades the mantis" Why?
They are simply not natural enemies:

little things
maintain a distance

With only shaking the tail, the tiger gets rid of the grip of the mantis and does not maintain a close relationship with the cicada, although he likes how his "violin" sounds. Then, taken to the sayings of my land, the moral would result in something like "the eagle does not hunt flies". Quite simply, there should be no interest in creating wars, where they have no place.
Good allegorical poetic composition, friend Pryde! Well done!

Raw poetry that speaks of loss. The autumn of a broken country, where even the pigeons of the squares have been disappearing. The relationship between: hero - nation - hunger is interesting.

The senses are shaken
for the sad song of the pigeons
asking for corn
with bony figure,
mirror of the nation.

Decadence without saviors, no breakthrough is glimpsed. There is a kind of conformity with the decline. Only contemplation of the slow fall of the robust tree that was a rich country, now plunged into misery.

A whirlwind of dry leaves
falls from the trees
by a spectral air
in the shade of the feet
of the hero.

Good writing, brother! Quite descriptive and heartfelt.

A whirlwind of dry leaves
falls from the trees
by a spectral air
in the shade of the feet
of the hero

As humans, we tend to the hero worshipping. There is something in us that craves excitement and a chance to prove ourselves, and so we like to also imagine ourselves the hero. We forget some heros are shrouded in death. Me ... I am more of a worshipper of peace:):):)

A truly wonderful write. Really quite wonderful:)

Here is my Friday cookie, I hope you enjoy it: The dull sound of silence

Sometimes it is our own inner voice that can victimize us the most. A wonderful exploration of expressionism and form:)

Thanks, Pryde!
