Healthy Apple Tart: A Delicious and Nutritious Dessert

in cooking •  yesterday

Apple tart is a timeless classic, and this healthy version lets you enjoy this dessert without the guilt. Made with more natural ingredients and less sugar, this tart is perfect for breakfast, a snack, or dessert on any occasion. The combination of caramelized apples with cinnamon on an oat crust creates an irresistible flavor.

Ingredients: For the crust:
  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 1/4 cup whole wheat flour
  • 1/4 cup coconut oil (melted)
  • 2 tablespoons honey or agave syrup
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • A pinch of salt
For the filling:
  • 3 medium apples (preferably green apples)
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon honey or agave syrup
  • Juice of half a lemon
Instructions:
  1. Prepare the crust: Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F). In a bowl, mix the oats, whole wheat flour, coconut oil, honey, and vanilla extract. Add a pinch of salt and mix until you get a smooth dough. Press the dough evenly into a tart pan (about 20 cm/8 inches in diameter). Bake for 10 minutes until lightly golden. Remove and let it cool.
  2. Prepare the filling: Peel and slice the apples into thin rounds. In a large skillet, heat the apples with the cinnamon, honey, and lemon juice over medium heat. Cook for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the apples are tender but not mushy.
  3. Assemble the tart: Once the crust has cooled and the apple filling is ready, arrange the apples evenly on top of the oat base.
  4. Bake: Place the tart back into the oven for 15-20 minutes, or until the apples are caramelized and the crust is crispy.
  5. Serve: Let it cool a bit before slicing. Enjoy this healthy apple tart with a touch of cinnamon!
