Cherries, pitted – 200g.
STEP-BY-STEP RECIPE
Eggs with sugar beat with a mixer. Add flour. Gently mix with a spoon. Form lay parchment paper and pour the dough. Put the pan in a cold oven and then preheat it to 180° and bake for 35-40 minutes. Readiness check with a toothpick.
Turn over our cake and remove the parchment paper. Cut the cake in half, one part of the cake is removed to the side. The second part of the cake cut into pieces.

Well lubricate the cake with cream, so it is well soaked. Top add the pieces of the second cake, cherries and grease with cream. Cake should soak in the refrigerator, it is better to leave for the night.
I tihnk you forgot to mention the quantity of sugar to use. Or maybe I missed it. But the rest sounds good. I've never tried the soaking technique. It sounds like it would be tasty.
