Came up with a plan to cook an Indian tadka dal soup. This was much more complicated than the typical dal, at least as I understand the varieties of that soup.

This kid has made incredible Indian, Thai, Ethiopian, El Salvadoran and more. And not really from learning recipes exactly: it's more like getting a "vibe" of the cuisine and then running with it.
I honestly think that we could send this kid into a cooking battle against really *anyone", and they would at least hold their own, if not win it.
