The Cooper's Hill Cheese Rolling Festival is an English tradition dating back around 200 years. Organized annually in May with the coming of spring, this wild festival was first begun by the residents of Brockworth, a village in Gloucestershire. and eventually managed to attract the attention of the entire world. The event, named for the hill on which the competition takes place, has drawn participants from a wide variety of countries in recent years, starting it on its way to becoming an international festival. The object of the race is to catch a wheel of cheese that is set rolling from the top of the hill. It's not an easy task, because the cheese, which is released just a moment before the race begins, can reach speeds up to 100 kilometers an hour. Whoever crosses the finish line first becomes the winner of this four-kilo wheel of cheese.
