So I woke up to this today:
Which is kinda sad considering I had no ads in place or anything, just the video recorded and stated that if cheddar tv themselves want to upload the video, I would take mine down. It was just there to share with others who had missed the live feed.
I kinda remembered why I stopped being active on my youtube account way back. Plus I had to go through "Copyright school" and wouldn't let me skip unless I filled it out. Fun stuff!
But anyway, just wanted to let you know that the video won't be visible on my account anymore and I have no idea where one could find it again, probably on cheddar.com but who knows.
Instead now I have I have a copyright strike on my youtube account that I just started using again!<3 Oh well, time to wait for a decentralized video sharing network. :)
@steemq up soon? ;)
Just another reason to 'run' from the minions! 😛
Glad I got to view the video before it was taken down! ♨️💯👍

fuck their arbitrary monopoly shite! I am generally protesting youtube. The ads are very intrusive and all this shit I hear about stuff being censored because of a few seconds of a frickin radio playing teh hot hitz and bam! copywrong?
copyright is such a handy claim to use to take down anything. fuck copyright. only plagiarism is wrong. blockchain4life 💩

Agree! There's been a lot of drama on youtube about channels being taken down and videos.
Thank god I focused on this social platform here that's decentralized. Waiting for similar platforms now or steem to implement them. ;)

I went through this as well. But I solved it differently - I looked up the e-mail for that person who reported my video. I wrote that guy an e-mail, keeping a neutral tone and politely asking him to remove his copyright claim because it affected my Youtube account standing. I told him I would take the video down myself. And it worked! Didn't have to go through copyright school.

Wow, I never knew this shit ! Good of you to share this, so now I know. But it is a bit frustrating that popular sites do this, and we should find a solution to stop this nonsense.
But I am amazed sometimes when just saying "It's on the block-chain, dude" seems to be enough.
On steemit, we have the potential to show a way, but a superficial approach might be a problem later on. We have to not only be a platform of free speech, we also must be an example for others to emulate. This is important because though we are building a community, it is looking pretty fair weather and we cannot let that happen if we want to last into the future.
And the only way to do that would be putting some soul into this. Somehow.

The strike was claimed by the other person who recorded the video not you-tube, if you want the strike removed you must work it out with the filer.

Definitely need an alternative. We shouldn't become dependent on YouTube, or Google who owns YouTube, for anything. Not ads, not videos...nothing. Google can't be trusted for any long term use, period.

You know you have a point but here's the problem with that theory. There's only 4 big players on the internet world stage and you have to be part of one or 2 of them. On oct.1st they put the internet into the hands of private ownership of whomever the investor are, so therefore it all belongs to them and we have end user agreements that tie us to an account and that is our pass through to use the internet. AI is learning our every move and our likes and dislikes and it's making our experience better, so they say. Anything and everything is for the use of everyone on the web anymore, and we all agree to it every time we log in. As for copyrights, that's just an easy way of keeping yourself employed and keeping money coming in, but that's has a problem with that to. It's all based on the old system wrapped around greed and it keeps others from actually expanding on an idea. As humans we think everything blongs to us. The creativity is the only thing we have but in the big picture is that even really ours and we just claim it, for profit. If we want to change the world we need to get rid of the me me me mentality and do it for the betterment of everyone, for everyone. That's my idea, what's yours?

What I'm referring to is the fact that Google will remove display of ads on sites that contains content not meeting their guidelines. We cannot allow ads by Google on this platform for revenue, as a few have suggested in other posts, because some of the content on Steemit is definitely outside of Google's guidelines. Likewise, with YouTube killing the play of some videos that do not match up with their guidelines, we should come up with our own solution.
My point is not about developing ownership that excludes, it's about preventing dictatorial censorship that will harm this community from reaching its goals. Simply that.

I went through it a few years back. It took a few months before i was able to load videos again. The best thing you can do is just upload your own stuff on Youtube.

"just the video recorded and stated that if cheddar tv themselves want to upload the video, I would take mine down."
That's not how copyright law works, sorry. I don't know the content of the video, but if it's on their site, then, watch it there.

Yeah, as I've mentioned before this was the first time I uploaded something on youtube in forever. Wasn't too aware of the rules so I sent them an email explaining the situation. Hopefully I'll be able to edit my post with a link that works from their end. :)
