I want ventilators. I want respirators. For that matter, I want masks or any preventative thing like that.
Sure, testing helps allocate resources correctly. I think I understand the point. But that seems like something that matters more in the normal course of things, when you want to optimize. In the crisis moments, you want what puts out the fire.
The people who aren't sure whether they have it can be unsure whether they have it. Just assume you do, and rest, nourish, hydrate, etc.
If it's at the point where you need breathing assistance or whatever kind of emergency help, you can't just do without.
Or different way to say it: It doesn't do much good to know that you have it if then the way to help you isn't in place.
Testing kits seems like a super secondary resource to me. I don't know what I'm missing.
Tempted to assume I'm probably missing something, but also people sometimes get set in their ways. I wouldn't be that surprised if having a way to test is just kind of embedded into the system as something they're used to, and they're not really appreciating the concept of an emergency and what matters most right now.

I realize it's not an either/or, like we can produce testing kits simultaneous to ventilators and whatnot. But your attention and what you push for and what gets prioritized is an either/or. So if you're telling your governor "we need more testing kits!!".. to me things like "we need more ventilators!", "we need more beds!", "we need more hospital space!" etc. seems so much more useful.
Dunno. 🤷🤷🤷 Don't really get the testing kit thing. Don't know what I'm missing.
