"The distance" was released by international band Cosmopolis and is out now.
At their core are 3 musicians from the UK, Australia, and Belgium.
This is unapologetically dark indie from the get go. The lo-fi intro sounds like they played a first generation Casio tone through some jet black paint that then flows to a bass sound that is all at once loose and tight. The vocal has a polished 80's indie feel that is sung with all the cynicism that the intervening 30 odd years have pulled with them. The gear change with the guitar coming in front and centre is at a welcome time and re- Energize the song ready for the call and retrieve back and forth at the climax of the song.
The tempo is slow and purposeful, almost mediative but I found it attention grabbing
There's a grimy feel to the production that puts me in mind of grey Sunday afternoons looking over an industrial vista that sets a perfect time for the song.
Love me abit of dark alt indie
