Counsel of the wise: Better are those who hide their folly than those who hide their wisdom. Ben Sira 20:31

Wisdom is first intelligence and then science, because we say that wisdom comes from the wise. And wisdom is in itself the greatest blessing for man, because when we build on her we build on good foundations, whoever builds on harming his neighbor builds on mud, like scammers, that is why the wise author of the Book of Proverbs left us valuable counsel: "Walk with the wise and become wise, for a companion of fools suffers harm" Proverbs 13:20.
The main function of wisdom is not to radiate happiness or say nice and beautiful words, but to protect life through assertiveness (precision and accuracy). When King Solomon, as judge of Israel, had to give his judgment to two prostitutes who claimed for the maternity of a child, King Solomon did not seek to do justice between the two women but to care for the life of the child who needed his real mother. Life is a fundamental good, and all human actions must be subordinated to its protection: "The one who gets wisdom loves life; the one who cherishes understanding will soon prosper" Proverbs 19:8.
The wisdom teacher Ben Sira in his knowledge added something very important, in a sage, hiding wisdom is a very serious negligence, a sin to be avoided at all costs: "Better are those who hide their folly than those who hide their wisdom" Ben Sira 20:31.
What would have happened to the prophet Daniel if in Susanna's trial (Book of Daniel 13:1-64), Daniel had hidden his inspired wisdom? Daniel would have been an accessory to a deception and a homicide. Receiving the grace of wisdom from God is a great responsibility, and those who in the Christian faith are filled with the Holy Spirit have the obligation to guide, teach, and correct.
