Can anyone tell me WHO doesn't like free items? Free candy, free toiletries...almost free makeup...it might require some work, some coupons or some "extrabucks rewards"(i will explain shortly)...but the bottom line is they end up being free.
In my opinion, one of the best drugstores is CVS/pharmacy. Not for the drugs (lol) but for all the other items available to buy there.
CVS/Pharmacy has their own store card which you use to accumulate rewards, and gives you sale prices, which you would not get without a card. It is free to obtain and you can use it right away. In addition, CVS has a "red-coupon machine" which gives you store coupons when you scan your card. Every week you get new coupons depending on your spending habits and what you buy more off. Other deals, everyone gets the same coupon.
Since everyone, ok, maybe not everyone....but many people likes sweets, I will mention that deal first. Trolli candy (7-8oz bag) is on sale for $1.88. You pay out of pocket $1.88, and you get back $1.88 in extrabucks rewards. The limit for this deal is 1. [Extrabucks rewards are like CVS cash rewards you can use towards another transaction. You can use it as soon as you get it and it prints out at the bottom of your receipt.] Even CVS' add says its like getting them for free. Thankfully, I took a picture of the Trolli candy (first picture posted) before @steemit-life got to them, since he really liked them and ate them. LOL =)
One easy deal to do, and since its time for back to school, is Elmer's glue. It is on sale for $1, and you get back $1 in extrabucks rewards, making it free.
Another easy and free deal I wanted to share was FREE toothpaste! The picture below shows you what the "red-coupon machine" looks like. When you scan your card, everyone gets a coupon for $2 off colgate toothpaste.
Smart Source
Since Colgate toothpaste is on sale for $3 (the sizes mentioned), when you use the store coupon that brings the price down to $1. However, this Sunday's newspaper (specifically the Smart Source 8/28) has a coupon for $1 off colgate. So that makes the toothpaste completely FREE!
What goes best with free toothpaste???? Yes you guessed it...FREE toothbrushes!
The deal is buy 1 Oral-B toothbrush, a 2 pack, and get $4 extrabucks rewards. The limit is 2. I didn't get the specific item pictured above. The good thing about these items, is that it doesn't specify the type of toothbrush you need to get, just that it should be Oral-B and a 2 pack.
These are the ones I bought. They are on sale for $4.99 each. I bought 2 at the same time because there is a coupon for $2 off two Oral-b toothbrush packs on coupons.com [note coupons have a limit, and when the limit is reached, those coupons will no longer be available to print].
So again $4.99*2 = $9.98
Use $2/2 coupon = $7.98
For each pack that you get, you receive $4 extrabucks rewards, since I bough 2, I get $8...so that makes it free after extrabucks rewards!
And after having clean teeth, we should care about shaving ourselves....or do you do it before? LOL Well anyway...the next deal is shaving cream.
The deal is when you buy 2 you get $5 extrabucks rewards of select Schick razors, refills, disposables, Edge or Skintimate shave gel. Both the Edge and the Skintimate shaving gels at my store where regularly priced at $3.49 (price may vary by region). So even without coupons, that would have made a decent price.
$3.49*2 = $6.98
$6.98 - $5 extrabucks rewards = $1.98
However, there is a coupon, either printable or in the Sundays's newspaper (Smart Source 8/21) of $1 off any one Edge or Skintimate. So use two coupons off $1, and it will make both of them free after extrabucks rewards!
Note in my picture that in addition to getting free shaving cream, I found two shaving creams that had 20% more than regular bottles, for the same exact price...therefore, I am saving an additional 20% off another bottle!
And last, but not least, a deal for those of us who enjoy makeup, especially when its close to free makeup! Maybe I could tell @guerrint about this deal for another makeup tutorial, or just to add for her collection of makeup =)
The deal is on Almay Cosmetic products. Spend $12 and get $4 extrabucks rewards. Of course there are many scenarios of products that you can buy, from mascara to eye liner, to lipgloss. However, on this occasion, I decided to get two items that were cheaper and would get me just over $12.
The Almay shadow softies was regularly priced at $5.79. The pink Almay Lipbalm was regularly priced at $6.99.
That got me $12.78...enough to earn me $4 extrabucks rewars. In addition, I had a coupon from coupons.com save $5 when you buy two almay cosmetic products. AND the "red-coupon machine" from CVS printed out a coupon of $3 off when you spend $9 Almay Cosmetics.
SO, let's do some math here:
$12.78-$5-$3= $4.78
I paid $4.78 and got back $4 extrabucks rewards. Hence, I got eyeshadow and a lipbalm for $0.78! This is the only items I ended up paying for...everything else was free!
THAT is what I like to call a Heck of a shopping trip!
Since I started couponing, I never pay for toothbrushes, toothpaste, shaving cream, mouthwash and other toiletries. If you like to get free items, you can follow me for other deals I post about or if you are interested in learning about couponing or saving money leave me a comment and you are welcome to follow me!
Happy Savings! =0)
These sale prices are from Sunday August 28th through Saturday September 3rd.
