God and Noah: I establish my covenant with you: Never again will all life be destroyed by the waters of a flood. Genesis 9:11

In the book of Genesis, the Bible tells us the story of the flood. This is a story with a deep moral sense, because it shows us that sin leads men to destruction, but instead, rectitude and integrity towards God leads men to salvation.
And the book begins the story by telling us that after Adam and Eve humanity grew in number but also in evil, to the point that the Bible tells us that God take away the gift of immortality to mankind (until that time the average lifespan was around a thousand years), and reduced the life of men to one hundred and twenty years.
In this way, the Bible tells us how were the thoughts of God before the Flood: "The LORD saw how great the wickedness of the human race had become on the earth, and that every inclination of the thoughts of the human heart was only evil all the time. The LORD regretted that he had made human beings on the earth, and his heart was deeply troubled" Genesis 6:5-6.
The Bible then tells us that God spoke to Noah and ordered him to build the ark. And when Noah finished the Ark, God told him: "Go into the ark, you and your whole family, because I have found you righteous in this generation" Genesis 7:1.
With the flood, humanity perished, but Noah stayed in the ark for more than forty days, until the earth began to dry up.
And so the Bible tells us God established through Noah a new covenant with the survivors:
"Then God said to Noah and to his sons with him: ´I now establish my covenant with you and with your descendants after you and with every living creature that was with you—the birds, the livestock and all the wild animals, all those that came out of the ark with you—every living creature on earth. I establish my covenant with you: Never again will all life be destroyed by the waters of a flood; never again will there be a flood to destroy the earth´" Genesis 9:8-11.
And in memory of this the Bible tells us that God created the rainbow.
