Based on BBC data, the 10 countries not exposed to Covid-19 are all on islands in the Pacific Ocean, namely the Republic of Palau, Micronesia, the Republic of Nauru (a micro country from Micronesia), Republic of the Marshall Islands, Republic of Kiribati, Solomon Islands, Tuvalu, Independent State of Samoa , The Republic of Vanuatu, and the Kingdom of Tonga.

Yes, the 10 islands boast that not a single case has been recorded there. It is very different from big countries such as the United States or Brazil, which are still fighting the corona virus.

One of the aggressive efforts made by the leaders of the island is to close their borders and in the process, the economy of the 10 islands is now in shock. Even so, the public didn't mind that while the pandemic didn't appear on the island where they lived.

"I think the government has taken the right action," explained Brian Lee, one of the hotel owners in Palau, in connection with the government's decision to shut down functionally and remain on lockdown since March 2020.

However, Lee realized that when the door never opened, his business would die. "I'm only half a year strong. More than that, I have to close my business," complained the businessman who has 20 hotel staff.

Furthermore, people on Marshall Island have to face bad luck. There, 700 workers have lost their jobs due to the Covid-19 pandemic, mostly workers in hotels and fisheries. This condition occurs because the island is in strict lockdown.

Apart from the losses suffered by the community, experts state that the steps taken by the local government are very correct. Because, prioritizing the safety of people's lives is the main thing.

"Even if the islands are reopening tourism, their main tourism market from Australia and New Zealand is closed. So there's no point," said Jonathan Pryke, Pacific islands program director.

"The government's choice of lockdown is the right choice. Because, when the government opens its doors, the islands will not only face economic problems because the main market is closed, but dangerous health problems," added Pryke.

He stressed that it was the right choice when the government of a country took the decision to lock down. Yes, even though the economy will be severely disrupted, giving priority to citizens is a priority.

This is very interesting! I had no idea, I simply assumed COVID-19 was literally everywhere!

Hi @oasis070
Thank you to reading.

There is always a COST in exchange for our NEEDS! This is typical for those islands of the Pacific! They were excepted from the Pandemic, but SACRIFICED their Economy by closing their industries to the outside World!

Nevertheless, theirs is better as non/few has died from the pandemic unlike other nations like Brazil which lost and still losing lives and economy simultaneously!
