CDC guidance change on isolation is net harmful.

Rather surprised by the CDC guidance change on isolation after a positive test for asymptomatics. It seems more driven by the Omicron case load pressure on businesses and scarcity of tests than on what are the best isolation procedures.

The earlier guidance change for healthcare workers had a test out provision to shorten isolation to 7 days. Likewise for the test to stay school policies after exposure. Both were grounded in some robust studies and data that showed minimal transmission risk. With Omicron's case growth and speed it makes sense to efficiently handle isolation and quarantine as otherwise Omicron would cripple operations.

But this move? They are using group averages for parameters that have wide distributions. It really undermines the entire point of identifying positives in the first place as a mitigation tool if we are sending contagious people back out into the public.

Not as reckless as the NFL guidance change, but still I think net harmful.
