For the immunocompromised the 4th dose is functionally their booster.

Just want to remind anyone I know that is immunocompromised, you can get a fourth dose (essentially your booster dose) 5 months after your third dose. We are just starting to enter the eligibility window for this group given they received third doses in August.

This group tends to have lower antibody responses after vaccination than those that are immunocompetent and many don't mount an antibody response until the third dose.

Some unfortunate individuals still don't mount an antibody response after three doses, so it is hoped a fourth dose will trigger a response.

The adjusted odds ratio of severe COVID after vaccination is 1.91 for the immunosuppressed after 2 doses. Nearly 2x the risk. One of the highest risk comorbidities for severe COVID after a breakthrough infection.
