Here's vaccine effectiveness against emergency department or urgent care visits for the bivalent vaccine for children 6 months old to 5 years old. Not many young kids are up to date. It is a preventable crisis.
For most adults I think waiting makes sense. New vaccines for this age group should be available in a month or so. But if one is particularly vulnerable due to a health condition or it has been a very long time since the last vaccine and/or you haven't had any boosters/infections, it makes sense to get it now. For young kids it may be awhile till they get the new vaccine. But we'll get clarity soon on that front.
Manufacturers all look like they'll be ready to go by next month. The CDC's advisory committee ACIP is expected to meet next month before the CDC gives the final sign off.
