Latest data on how many people have antibody evidence of previous COVID infection. Overall, it went from 34 to 58% in just two months (Dec-Feb). By age group in February:
0-11: 75% (Up 31 points in just 2 months)
12-17: 74%
18-49: 64%
50-64: 50%
greater than 65: 33%
It's hard to square the ultra-high rates among school age kids with the notion that kids aren't significant vectors. And crazy that our under-11 vax rates are still around 30% or less. 😕
These numbers are for infection-acquired antibodies (nucleocapsid) and specifically exclude antibodies from vaccines. In January, 42% showed no evidence of infection; that number is clearly much lower now given the rates in Jan-Mar this year.
With vaccinated people over-represented in that group, I think it's likely that far over 90% of people in the US have been infected, vaccinated, or both. That's the key reason I expect hospitalization and death rates to be much lower in the future, although infection waves will likely continue forever.
