Here's the key new part of the data 🔺

Notably now noting the presence of raccoon dogs in the positive environmental samples. The raw data is also now available to the public. Reminder this data was collected in early 2020 and is now only coming to light.
For a quick rehash of the situation. This new analysis doesn't conclusively show an infected animal or animal to human spillover, but it does suggest the possibility. We need more sampling of animals to help learn the origins of SARS-COV-2.
Researchers have pointed out numerous errors in this that will hopefully be corrected. Namely the reference database they used to match animals incorrectly matched to dogs rather than raccoon dogs (their other data in this same paper correctly matched to raccoon dogs).
