The FDA has authorized the bivalent coronavirus vaccine boosters that target the Omicron variants BA.4/BA.5.
The Pfizer Omicron booster is approved for those 12 and older. The Moderna Omicron booster is approved for those 18 and older.
This will need to be approved by the CDC, and then shots in arms as soon as that occurs.
This approval was based on human clinical data from bivalent coronavirus vaccines targeting Omicron variant BA.1 and animal data for the BA.4/BA.5 vaccines.

There isn't a waiting period after infection anymore. Typically though people wait about 3 months after an infection. It won't hurt if you get vaccinated earlier, but after an infection you typically have some immunity boost for the first couple of months.
ACIP meeting tomorrow with a vote in the afternoon. Then it goes to Walensky for final approval.
