Our boys are in junior high, I have always believed kids need in classroom education. From feb2020- end of yr that’s June, they stayed virtual and finished the yr. teachers and kids were still learning what it means to be virtual. So the last quarter was basically no studying just going through the routines. School took summer of 2020 to understand this new normal form of education- hybrid. Some kids still chose to stay hybrid and most returned to school with masks and armed with their sanitizers. Lunch was behind plexiglass separators. Not ideal but still better than virtual.
I think socially this last year has stunted them emotionally, although our boys are twins and depend on one another for their social well-being, they still had night outs with their friends, which stopped. No picnics or any school trips.
But all in all I think we did quite well as parents in shielding them from misinformation and panic associated with COVID. School did quite well in adapting to a hybrid model to bring kids back into school in a very reasonable quick manner.
